VOIP for faxing
I recently (about two weeks ago) posted a message about OOMA VOIP telephone service and didn't receive any responses. I bought one and am using it for faxing and for calling long distance when I don't want to use my cell minutes and have found that it worked well. Sent a 41 page fax last week without a problem. Figure it will save me around $20.00 a month, so I will make up the $200.00 cost within 10 months. Calls to the US and Canada are free. I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with OOMA, Vonage, or any other VOIP telephone services. Tried Magic Jack, and that didn't work for faxes. Any comments appreciated. Erwin

I tried Vonage about 2 years ago, specifically so I could fax. The rep. told me that it would be fine, but when the system was in and I tried to fax it wouldn't work. I contacted tech support and they told me that faxing would not work at all with their system.
At the time I wasn't happy because they billed me around $100 for the equipment when I cancelled service until they received the equipment back. They did credit me back but it took over 30 days past when they actually received my shipment back to them.

Greetings Laurie,
I have two VOIP numbers that I acquired from Vonage three years ago or so. Initially, I had issues faxing to certain numbers, but after numerous phone calls to Vonage the problems were resolved in time. Haven't any issues in a very long time.

I no longer have vonage because it would not work with my Dish Network connection but when I had it I used it to send faxes all the time with no problems. You just need to dial *99 first to get a higher quality connection. I have used Magic Jack with some limited success. It works most of the time but not often enough to consider it reliable. I believe the speed of your internet connection may actually play the biggest role in your faxing success.

every company is having problems perfecting the digital phone service (voip) for faxing. a lot of it has to do with the equipment being faxed to. my system works great plus gives unlimited calling for 24 bucks a month.
