notary stamp Maryland

Maryland Notarys help, On Friday I received a call from the MD. SOS office. They had received my renewal for my commission. On the renewal form your current stamp is required.
He stated to me that the stamp was not correct (I purchased it from Norary Rotary). He said that it should not have the MD seal but when I just looked at the NR site it doesn't give you the choice of ordering without any seal! Any help would be appreciated.

Looked at other seals and I see what they mean.

On another provider of notary seals for MD the impression I viewed had

Name
Commission Expires Date
Notary Public
Name of County

There was no seal.

Knowing Harry like I think I do, I bet he got approval for the seal from someone at the State of MD who was not paying attention to their job that day.

USE THE CONTACT LINK BELOW or call NR to let them know of this right away. It is probably be a critical piece of information they may need to be aware of.

I get my stamps from Staples. They have a lifetime reink policy and it just states my name, notary public, state of Md, Baltimore County. No seals.
I just read our Notary Handbook, page 8 (Seal) states the Maryland requirements. If you need it let me know. PM me

Te manual says "may also contain a symbol or device chosen by the notary public" .. why wouldn't the state seal fit this ? Maybe the state seal can only be used with permission.

Also, nothing about date on seal. I have a seperate stamp (small) thus

John Q. Public
Notary Public State of Maryland
My Commission expires February 31, 2011

This I use under my signature to meet requirement that name be printed below signature. Also I don't have to fill in the "my Commission expires ..." section
