E-mail worm
I got an e-mail yesterday from, supposedly, one of my notaries, in it was a link to a blogspot with a Russian looking name, vsevoloddzeniskevich9. There was no message in the e-mail just the link. Knowing the notary as well as I do I didn't click on the link, but I e-mailed her to ask if she had sent it. She hadn't. So, watch out for suspicious e-mails. One is obviously making the notary rounds.

Thanks for the "heads up" Sylvia. I've had so many more emails in the past couple of months that I can hardly keep up with them but I try to skim through just in case it's important.

Any time I get an e-mail with a link in it that looks suspicious I check with the person who supposedly sent it. I have ChoiceMail One, to control spam etc, but the notary is on my approved list so it downloaded into my Inbox.

LOL. That is an amusing scenario. Quick--email everyone & tell them not to open my emails!!!! Tech world humor, for sure.

I got an email from a cousin last week. Something just didn't look right. It had the word Korea in the body of the email and that is what tipped me. Gave me a chance to call her and talk, and no she didn't send it. Be careful out there.

another thing...
I've been getting almost daily notices from my ISP (Earthlink) that they've quarantined a message sent to me that had a virus that couldn't be removed. They are primarily from three supposed senders: UPS Delivery Notice (or something - I don't remember exactly and didn't save it), 123Greetings, and Hallmark, although recently they have been from individuals, with messages related to package delivery. Today there was one from "Microsoft Windows Agent".
When I received the first one, it was one of the UPS Delivery ones and I'd just dropped off a set of documents to UPS, which is unusual for me. (Most of my clients still use FedEx, although that seems to be changing...) I almost followed the instructions to see if there was a problem, but remembered that they didn't have my email address.
These seem to be aimed primarily at Earthlink, but you never know. Thankfully, they are blocking them before they get to me. Bottom line, another reminder to make sure we have our anti-virus software up to date, just in case...

Just received an e-mail overnight
from someone that I absolutely, positively KNOW will not send me e-mails (got it twice as a matter of fact) - although I recognized the name of the sender and did open the e-mail I didn't click on the link, which had something to do with rplcontroller dot com...it was also sent to many people, including a couple other family members, a couple credit card companies, a bank customer service dept....
