Fox Signing Services
Have not been paid for two signings one in May, 2009 and one in July, 2009. Their phone has been disconnected.

If it rhymes with "OX" -- avoid it! That's my rule. n/m

If it rhymes with "OX," say no to the docs ....
OR: If it rhymes with "OX," you'll get the pox!
Which leads to:
It doesn't rhyme, but: If it's SOX, give 'em the boot.
See what you started, Marian

P.S. Did not mean to ....
make light of the fact these scumbags aren't paying notaries .... I'm in the same boat with SoCal (yes, it was stupid to say "yes" to them; at least I said "no" the last time they called), not to mention Gambs of PDS - a never-ending nightmare. And whatever happened to the thief Carla from Quick Docs in Pasadena ....? Oh, and then there's JM Closing Services that won't respond to my e-mails or phone calls ... all totalled that's over $500 - yikes!

Yes, Please explain!
I've known Zana long enough on here and haven't seen her defending any SS, " just because". If she has ever defended an SS it would be with good cause. And she certainly hasn't responded in this thread.

Wouldn't defend Fox
They owe me from May 2006. Everytime I mention that on here, I get nasty emails from them.

Where the heck did a remark like that come from?

Maybe we should all get together and fight back on this growing list of Signing Services that do not pay their notary invoices. Since we know who they are, why not accept their next assignment but collect your fee from the borrower at the signing. This will get their attention and send a message that is loud and clear.

No way are you going to be able to collect your fee from the borrower. The borrower has no contract with you. Just do not accept the signing if it is from a SS that does not pay.
The borrowers would in all likelihood complain to the title company (they have no idea a signing service is involved most of the time), and that would add your name to a title company's list of notaries not to use.
If everyone turned down the signing assignments from SS that do not pay, then the title company would either have to find the notaries directly or use a different signing service.
Incidentally, I got into the signing service business in 2003, after one of the title companies Escrow officers that I had worked for through a signing service asked me if I would find signing agents for them as she had too many complaints about the signing service they were using. That Escrow officer has changed title companies several times over the years, but she still calls me to have her signings filled.

Really bad idea. Never, never involve the borrower in payment or collection issues. I do think there should be a way for notaries to collectively get together and go after the deadbeats for payment. In this business we are independent contractors, and there's risk involved in accepting assignments & getting paid. Abstractors have the same issues we do. The best policy is to be careful who you take work from in the first place. Signing Central is a great tool to help everyone check out a company's reputation.

Check Signing Central & also do a search using the orange search button. They are known deadbeats.
