HP 2055dn Laser Printer

I have searched Notary Rotary for the answer to my problem and cannot find a resolution.

I have just purchased a HP 2055dn laser printer and have been able to configure and attached to my computer.

I have been able to configure the trays for legal and letter size paper. I did this by selecting control panel, printers, properties and device settings.

When I print, I request the printer to chose paper source by PDF size. It does select the correct size paper when printing the documents.

If the bottom tray (legal) runs out of paper, the printing stops and indicates that tray has to be re-loaded with paper. Once re-loaded it will automatically start printing again.

However, if the top tray runs out of paper (letter), the printer does not stop and proceeds to pull paper from the bottom tray. Of course this is the wrong size paper.

I am hoping someone has already solved this "challenge" and can assist me

Did you enter the setting on the printer itself? (Not in the software)
Mine wouldn't work properly until I went through the page setup menu on the printer.
