IMO taking work from companies that do this kind of business is a risk in the first place. I did one for them through an ss. It was a joke. These folks made a good income, had lots of credit card debt, and thought it was just a way to do away with a large chunk of their debt. It amazes me that people think they don't have to pay for things they purchased.

What were the job(s) you were required to do?
Was this in any way similar to the Loan Mod Scam where you had the "client" sign a few forms and make an upfront payment in some form and then you sent the papers to the company? You might even have notarized a signature or two. Were the promises to obtain "credit relief" just promises, with no refund for failure to actually succeed on the part of the "credit relief" company?
If all the above were to be true, why would you expect to be paid for your efforts?

I'm trying to recall, but I think it was the contract that they wanted notarized. Obviously, they wanted to make sure it was legally binding. You're right, this again is a "representation", with no promises of results. Also, they tell the client to stop paying their cc payments. In the meantime, they don't make any payments until a certain amount accrues in their account. It would absolutely kill your credit. The recent laws are about mortgage fraud. I don't know if this kind of business falls into any category that there are laws against. I know there are laws against the people who claim they can help with "credit repair" and getting credit scores changed.
