Toner reset sequence for Brother printers

Here is a quick fix when you get that RED LIGHT stating that the toner is empty and you know you could continue printing just a bit more. Most Brother units will not allow you to continue printing at that point. This could be a real problem if you don't have an extra toner and you are in the middle of printing your docs.

Take cartridge out, press GO.
Put cartridge, press GO.
Close front, press GO.

You will need to do this in rapid sequence and sometimes you will need to do it several times.

Don't forget to also lightly shake the toner cartridge from side to side to even out any remaining toner. This helps a LOT. When that light first pops on, you've still got plenty of toner in there.

That being said... be sure to always have a spare on hand! But... even with a spare, keep trying to use the old cartridge. You'd be amazed how must toner you still have when that light pops on.

Oh, and always use toner saver mode... I do by default and I never notice a difference in the documents, ever.

The only time I turn the toner saver off is when I need to print something like an image or grayscale.

I've also removed the cartridge and put a little masking tape over the small hole on the side of the cartridge that's used somehow to signal the machine that the toner is low.

Oops, didn't read far enough down . . . I see this was mentioned in a thread below. It works.

It takes a lot less time to

make sure you have an extra toner cartridge or two so when you run into this situation, you just slam in the new cartridge push go and finish ...

I refill my own, so getting the last page out of each one isn't an issue.
