Wells Fargo Mod Signing/FASS
These are great little signings, but had a borrower today that I'd scheduled the signing with that got a bit ballistic that I, the notary, knew her loan was approved before she did and was calling her to schedule the closing. Actually, she put it off for a day because of it. We got it done this evening, but she informed me that she had called the Better Business Bureau and 4 Wells Fargo branches to find out who I was. She knew the law firm I worked for, and the law firm I had worked for for 21 years before. LOL She wasn't real happy, but it worked out fine.
Moral of the story is that if you get one of these, make sure the borrower is aware the call is coming and they have been approved for the mod. Cuts down on a lot of tension. She said that if she'd had the letter that came with the docs sent to me that she would have been okay. She had me fax her the actual closing docs ahead of time, which I got approved to do and did. The one thing I didn't fax her was the letter to the borrower. I've never read the letter to the borrower, but would have faxed that too, and will in the future if such a condition presents itself again.
These are not assigned with closing times...you set the closing time with the borrower. Maybe someone forgot to make a call on this one. Don't know...but they're still nice little closings. You stamp 4 times. This one I had to stamp 6 times as she wanted an executed original, and that's kewl. She also questioned me on where it was going, and I showed her the preprinted airbill after I'd sealed the 2 executed originals in there at the signing table. She had instructions to send her check to Wells Fargo, along with an executed original, to a different address and recipient, and that bothered her too. In fact, instructions from FASS give you an address to ship to that is different from what comes on the FedEx envelope with a preprinted airbill already in that envelope pocket and I had to write to see which was the correct address to ship to, which is the preprinted airbill address. They need to fix that.
Anyway...just an FYI post. Have a great week!

I've had modification doc signings like that. They aren't even aware that the modification is approved until I call them to make an appt. Most sign, usually after speaking to their agent, but one guy decided the new terms were not acceptable.
