It's "Phishing" do not reply.

They automatically remove accounts that have not been used in 6 months anyway. It's in the terms of service.

Smells like a scam to get your Yahoo info. It's called Phishing.

I didn't...yet... but then again, Yahoo is my primary e-mail

account. Maybe that's why I didn't get it?

Re: I didn't...yet... but then again, Yahoo is my primary e-mail

They use a computer program to generate random email address to the target mail provider. The phishers do not know what your email address actually is ... unless you send them that info. It's completely random if you get the email or not.

you can forward emails like this to [e-mail address], but they probably already know about it.

I wouldn't have responded anyway...

simply because I won't provide my password to a random e-mail from ANYONE, and they have no need to know my D.O.B.....requesting the password and D.O.B. is what raised the red flags for me.

Re: I wouldn't have responded anyway...

Unfortunately there will be people who fill in the blanks thinking that's what they are supposed to do "or else" and then suddenly they become a victim of identity theft.

Bad people doing bad things.

Re: Check out the scam email I received.

Yep...wonder how James Maurer and I (and many others) let our $99.83 bill go to collections? LOL !!!. I am surprised that the scam artist bothered to utilize the grammar/spell check.....usually these things are filled with typos and poor grammar. Sadly, if this joker sent out thousands of this scam email and got even 100 people to fall for this....he'd have stolen $9,983 !!

Just the latest in a string of never-ending attempts by the bad guys to separate the unsuspecting from their money....

Any company offering "chat" type forums are required to establish the age of the user. So DOB is required to ensure that certain areas are restricted for minors. Of course, who's to say that the kid didn't type in false information.
