I just went through that....

You have to change the settings through Toolbox.

If it's not already on your hard drive, then you need the disk that came with the printer.

Hi, I had a 1320 dual printer for quite a while before I got my 4250. I just checked and deleted the printer. But best I can remember you need to go to Printers&Faxes under Control Panel (XP operating system). Right click on properties. I can't remember where exactly but you will be able to go through the different tabs and you should find where you set it up. Sorry I can't be more specific but went through the same thing when I set up my 1320. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Just checked on my 4250. On the 4250 under control panel...printers and faxes. Right clicked on properties. Under device settings...Installable options you can set up each tray...from not available to whatever. I realize this is my printer (4250) but hope it will be similar to 1320....as I remember that is where is set it up and after that you will see it under general settings.,

There are TWO places that must be configured

Whenever you set up a printer, you need to set the configuration in two different places. One place is within the environment (e.g. Windows), using the device properties and printing preferences (usually accessed through Control Panel/Printers and Faxes). The other is at the device itself. Most HP printers have a Windows based software tool to access the printer and configure the hardware, such as using the HPLJ 1300 Toolbox. Some printers allow you to configure the hardware using its own display panel.

The important thing is, that BOTH configurations match each other. That is, for example, they both reflect there are two trays, and what paper is in each one.
