I did my wind farms signing tonight
It was the first one for the company, and a first for me. It was worth more than I charged, but a learning experience for both of us. At least I know how to streamline it to about 1 1/2 minutes per lease the next time, or at least I made the recommendations to get it there. Actually may put these wind/electric generators up on two of the farms, but a 30 year lease is pretty scary for one of those that may have much more value in the near future to break up into lots for realty. It was an interesting signing. I have 3 more of them coming up from this company and already told him that the next one will be a minimum of $500 instead of $250 min. I think if he follows my advice, we could have signed 30 of them tonight and I would have made $520 instead of $250. It was educational, if nothing else. I had no calls for other bookings so it was also something I was interested in looking into. Free chip mix, cokes, and a cap too. LOL

Yes she did, and that was appreciated, but it didn't address what arose at this signing that slowed it down. What slowed this one down was swapping 5 new pages of docs out with 5 pages that were mailed to the folks, plus not having additional originals of the leases.
It wasn't bad though. I think the next one will go much smoother.

Color me with envy!!!
All I got this week was some guy in S Korea who needed Apostille work, then emails me to cancel because the Notary he got to do the job was willing to 'fed ex' it. Well freakin' duh!! I thought that was implied!! Not the deal breaker!
Then yesterday's was a mod closing that turned out to be a mod app; so I turned it back. I look up the company and they have A+ ratings on the BBB....sigh. Question is are all mod apps evil? I wonder.
Wednesday's work was cancelled because my grandson was born. Ok, switch that one to the positive column. :0)
Yep; I'm totally jealous!!
but thinking, "yoohoo, good for JOHN!!"

CONGRATS, GRANNY!
Sorry you week hasn't gone well. It's been slow here too so was glad to get this one. Just got a call to take a reverse mortgage app., but don't know if they'll approve my fee. I haven't taken a r/m app. or closed one in quite some time. I used to get several of them a month. Maybe they're gonna crank up again.

I know a good honest atty who does loan mod work
Hi, CH
The owner of the law firm I used to run in Calif is a good, kind, smart, and honest man.
He is doing loan mod work.
His paralegal handles all the application procedures, a staff litigation attorney handles the negotiations with the lender, and he uses outside notaries for the signings.
He is doing this because I heard about all the scum bags cheating people out of their money and homes in Calif. It was clear CA needed a White Knight so I asked him to add this practice area.
He spent months studying so he would be an expert. (That's how he is.)
He lets clients pay in three installments with the final one at the signing.
Before he takes the first payment, he does a quick assessment to see if he can help them at all. (Like asking them if both people in a couple are employed full time, if they have a loan at 6% or less, etc.)
If he can't get them a loan mod they can live with, he refunds all the money except the first payment. The first one covers what he pays the paralegal and litigator.
If you know someone in Calif who needs him, PM me.
>> I do not get even one penny for referring anyone to him. <<
btw - I think that S Korean guy must have called every notary in Calif.
I helped him and the notary determine exactly how to get him what he needed because a notary in CA emailed me asking for help. It was very complicated because the DOJ was involved.
I've known the notary for a couple of years so she felt OK asking me.
So take comfort in knowing that a very sweet woman got the gig.
And CONGRATS on the grandson!
