Notary Photo Request

Anyone ever be requested to provide a photo as part of the registration process with any signing company. Is this a standard practice ????

Never heard of it in the 10 years I've been in this business. I guess what they're saying is, "Uglies need not apply. We only want good lookin' people" Wink

Uglies? I think they want people who have an appearance

of professionalism. Maybe I'm wrong but clean clothes come to mind...no violent pictures in tatts, no piercings that might disturb Grandma and Grandpa...I think they have a right to request a picture, though I don't know what "real" good it provides.

I think they were being funny by saying uglies.

I think you're right!

I have been asked once for a photo (can't remember by whom, though). I didn't have any photos posted for a long time (and still haven't bothered posting one here.) However, when I built my website, I thought it was about time. I just cropped myself out of a photo I happened to have in my pc that I thought was decent enough. Unfortunately, there was something behind me that kind of looks like it's growing out of my head. Wink At least I had a jacket on...

We're used to meeting strangers on a daily basis, but some people aren't. I've heard indirect comments from the general public where I think it might have made a difference. (I guess I look unthreatening... Wink) However, requiring it could be considered a form of discrimination so I don't think it's good policy, but I don't personally have a problem with it.

Exactly! The "uglies" I mentioned was done ...

tongue-in-cheek, but well-described by Brenda/TX. Wink On the other hand, I also have to agree with you, Janet, requiring a photo could be used to dicriminate against certain "classes" of people ... like me on the basis of age, etc. Frown

Aw Philip, I always thought of you as the Cary Grant type, not Brad Pitt. LOL

Only in my language skills and demeanor; otherwise

I do have a striking resemblance to my brother Bob and Brad. Thanks for noticing Sylvia.

Re: Oh my gosh, Bob you are my long lost twin.

I have asked some of my notaries for a picture...but that was only because I wanted to put a face with a name...and this is only with the notaries I feel won't be offended. I share my picture too! It drives me crazy not knowing what someone looks like...and it really has nothing to do with whether someone is attractive or not. My older son looked like ET when he was born...I still shared his picture with everyone...lol!

Thankfully, I look nothing like Bob, or Brad. Smile I've been accused of holding up people that I don't like, though. http://www.pawnotary.com/images/myphoto.gif

There is no legitimate reason for a company to request that and I wouldn't give it to them. I don't post a photo on my profile for the same reason.

IMO it is also important to have a photo with your profile. It's professional & gives people some idea of who they're dealing with. If the "uglies" are worried--get a lot of airbrushing done. That's what the celebs do.

Or, like me with my whimsical Santa outfit ...

not to be taken too seriously. It's a great ice-breaker when I get a call from someone who found me on NR. But it's my profile that tells the real story about me.

Several of my vendors want a copy of my driver license, so that gives them the old mug.
