OMG! (to CA notaries)
My husband needed his signature notarized on some (out of state) real-estate docs, so we went to a UPS store in downtown Sacramento. Really nice notary, BUT .... there were two docs in the pkg that required jurats - both indicated the signer needed to take an oath. In neither case did the notary give an oath or affirmation. Also, as we all know, every jurat taken in CA must have CA-compliant jurat wording, a law he totally ignored. One had incomplete jurat wording, the other had none at all. Then he stamped his seal on another doc that would probably have taken an ack. But he never asked my husband what certificate he should use. Again, as we all know, a CA notary is not allowed to stamp and sign a dcoument without some sort of notarial wording - it was like he stamped a blank page. Using the famous: "Can you notarize this photograph"? example, he probably would have done that.
How did he ever get a commission? Yikes! (At least he ID'd my husband correctly) Anyway, as far as the receiving party is concerned, I bet the docs will be good to go...
