Ways to diversify...
My business ground to a halt last month. Anyone has any ideas to how to diversify my notary business? My business consists mainly of refis through title companies. How else can I use my notary?

At the end of the line just above the hook on a Texas Jig...or Carolina Jig. Either way is still a fishing expedition. (insert rim shot sound bite here)

What does Texas say about how you use your commission?
I think you may want to learn what your state says about the acts allowed for a notary public.

acts allowed for a notary public...
In public or private? (guffaw) How is the State going to control this?

I chuckled at this one, too. NNA has her beat--they have preformed thousands of notaries. The phrase reminds me of the "Stepford Wives", if anyone remembers that horror movie. I also hope the poster doesn't mind us having a few laughs at her expense.

I was thinking the same thing. BTW, to the original poster, please keep in mind that these days, we need to get our comic relief wherever we can find it!! Thanks for helping out - and giving the rest some ammunition to play with. (I don't think any of these cracks were meant personally...)
Seriously, I think Sylvia gave you very likely the best recommendation you could get, not surprisingly! I also have Laura's booklet (available as a download from Amazon). Her best advice is that there are no easy solutions. Everything takes lots of effort and diligence, but there are lots of good suggestions on how to be more proactive in generating other notary business.
Best of luck. I think we're all going to need it!

I can recommend it, and there are some good reviews on it on Amazon.com

Sylvia, I couldn't agree more. Laura has a terrific book for non loan signing marketing.
