Yes, but it sounds like he got off way too easy.

This article seems more like a defense of the attorney

than anything else. It seems like the author is saying that there really IS no loan mod scam; this poor attorney just got caught up in the banks refusals to modify the loans. Not his fault that he collected $1.25 million in fees and was apparently unable to get a single loan modified - it's all because the Obama administration policies don't work and the banks won't cooperate...

Which begs the question - why did this guy not return the fees when he couldn't produce what he said he would? It apparently wasn't a win some, lose some kind of thing - he lost them ALL (assuming he did anything to try to win them in the first place).

I'm always amazed at the spin that can be put on a story to make the bad guy look like the good guy....

That was my reaction, too. After all, if the judge dismissed the charges, there must not have been anything to them. Everyone knows that judges never make mistakes... yeah, right! I'm embarrassed that this happened in my county - but at least I can say that I wasn't the notary on any of those attorney supposed-mod agreements and I never collected any of those lost, but hard-earned funds from borrowers! Thank goodness!

Are you smoking crack?

Because he came up with a scam that he actually had to put some work into, you think he's entitled to payment? Wow.

He deserves to keep $1.25 million in upfront fees and do nothing in return? Where do I get a job like that?

Exactly! Never ceases to amaze me how effective the media is at spinning yarns ....

I'm not sure this guy qualifies as "the media". Seems to be just a guy with a blog, promoting a certain point of view, imo.
