Welcome, CapCityAgent...you're our only poster
from DC, I think. I encourage you to stay and post so at least *I* know more about the life of DC notaries.
Your question...my answer:
If you want to make a go in this business (especially in these slower times) you will put on your walking shoes and hit every single place that shuffles paper with a card in hand that says, "mobile notary" and not necessarily signing agent info. [Real estate, brick/mortar banks, law offices, developers...etc.]
If you go to the.. -drycleaners -liquor store -convenience store -daycare -clothing boutiques -doctor -dentist -pharmacy -any other place where you trade dollars for goods or services ...and you don't take a card in and leave it regularly with "mobile notary" on it, then you're not a good marketer!
It's good to have signing agent cards for your signing agent clients to send with marketing to them, but you need "mobile notary" cards also. 75% of the people you do business with face to face don't know/don't care what a signing agent is. Some (i.e., lawyers, title companies) even see signing agents as competition. You need mobile notary cards to get your message out to those who need a notary at a site.
Good luck.

Re: Good advice from Brenda opportunities
I Have three sets of mobile notary cards, notary, signing agent and cards with my picture on them. Don't forget to visit Senior citizen facilities and hospice care facilities also, they really need mobile notaries. Good luck.
