Request for a Confidential Marriage Certificate
Good morning all!
Are there any special requirements when notarizing a Request for Confidential Marriage Certificate. I have never completed this form and wanted to make sure I am able to do so.
Thanks!

The only special requirements that I can see are spelled out in your state's manual: no blanks on form, proper notarial block, proper wording, stamp, sign, etc.
Of course, if it is a mojor movie star we all want to know immediately, so you will keep us informed. TIA

LOL ! ! !
You mention the word confidential and ppl want to know the names involved if movie star is one or both?
LOL ! This board cracks me up!
I heard about those before I left Calif but never did one. I think if you go to your local jail (better yet, prison) one of the guards would tell you about or show you a blank form.
Good on you for getting gig and for being diligent! And good luck!
Now that 3.2% of almost 1 billion Americans are now in jail or prison, doing notary work there is a new marketing venue opportunity. Yikes! I no be going there, says this Scottswoman.

You can do a search here...they've been discussed
before...if memory serves me, I believe some CA counties are restricting them or not allowing them - you may need to check with the county.
Not sure how jail signings got included here...but...don't think I'd refer anyone to a jail guard with regard to notary procedure.

Is this the application for a marriage certificate or are you actually asking about issuing a confidential marriage license? If it is the latter, then you must be approved by the county where your oath was given and bond on file. To get approved by the county you must take a special class for this and then you will be on their approved list. If you have not been approved by the county to issue confidential marriage licenses then you cannot do so. The customer needs to contact the county clerk - notary public division - to get referrals. San Bernardino county has this list of approved notaries authorized to issue confidential marriage licenses on their website. It is a short list. Probably 1 in 5,000 notaries in CA are approved to issue confidential marriage licenses.
As for the former, (an application for a marriage certificate) then you notarize as you normally would - ID signer, watch customer sign doc, complete notarial certificate - sign and stamp, have customer sign journal, collect fee and then you're finished.
