Slow Slow Slow...

I don't understand what the deal is...I mentored with a lady before I started this myself. I am new to the business, but I am knowledgeable of the processes. I sat thru many loan signings prior to applying to become a notary. HOWEVER, I have not rec'd one call. NOT ONE Frown Wonder what the deal is??? I just want to build my business and no one is calling me.

It's slow for most of us - my phone is barely ringing. And wouldn't you know, I missed a call today and I called them back within 2 minutes - they had already assigned it to another notary.

That stinks. Seems lile they do re-assign them quickly, but I just haven't had any calls. Is it always slow this time of year? Or is this a new issue?? Thanks

Wouldn't do that if I were her....

<<<Copperhead, you recording should say, "yes I accept assignment! Please send confirmation and Docs now". LOL>>>

No point in leaving a recording as those that don't intend to leave a message won't bother to listen to any greeting. The lowball and deadbeat companies *would* leave a message and claim that such a voice message obligates her to the complete their $50 signings.

Nah, save yourself the trouble. If you miss a call, don't beat yourself up over it.....it wasn't meant to be. Stay positive.......there's a better paying and easy signing coming your way.....

Business is slow for all of us who have been in the business for years. The companies that call me have been calling me for many years. They know without any doubt that the closing will be conducted professionally and correctly. These relationships were not formed over night.

There are undoubtedly many notaries in your area. Those people too have built loyal relationships over the years with the title companies, signing agencies etc. They may call you if all the other notaries they know are busy. With everything slowing down it will more likely that those same notaries will have availability to take appointments and the TC, SS never make it down the list to you. Of course, there are always the low ballers who will eventually make it to you.

You chose to enter a business that is on the down swing. You are going to have knock on doors, make calls, send emails and advertise youself aggressively and then your phone still may not ring. You certainly can't register on a web site and sit back and expect the phone to ring. Good luck to you.

UH You missed a call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My cell phone goes with me everywhere because that is the worst thing that can happen especially when business is slow.

When I say everywhere I mean it. I have answered my phone while in the shower, soaking wet and shampoo in my hair and that is the truth! I am thinking about inventing a wrist holster for the phone so I never forget it ever! Has anyone a better way of keeping it on your body at all times? Sewing it on would hurt too much, glue on the back would keep me from being able to change the battery and I don't have enough hair on my head to rubber band it in there.

My husband is a country boy. He always has a plentiful supply of bailing wire and duck tape!
He would be deeeelighted to ducktape just about anything to my body!

Re: UH You missed a call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My phone goes with me everywhere I go,too, and I have stepped out of the shower to get it as well. It's in my pocket while picking up dog poo outside. I take it with me when I go to the mailbox. I have it with me in the bathroom. It's outside with me if I'm washing the car. I have it with me at doctor appointments. It happens rarely, but I did miss the call today. And of course, the rest of the day - NO CALLS!

Re: UH You missed a call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, Carol, there are arm holsters available on the market (I've seen them on Verizon website). And, I have as friend who makes for herself, in various colors and fabrics, wrist holsters (velcro and snap closings) which will hold phone, driver's license, credit card and a couple of dollar bills. She says these are her prototypes and when she's happy with it, she'll patent the end result.

That is too funny! But, here's one for you you may not have tried...YOUR BRA! I've found that my phone fits nicely in my sports bra and I never miss a call! I have also carried my phone inside my mucking boot while cleaning my horse stalls! You do what ya gotta do!

Good idea but can be embarrasing.

My phone spends half of it's life in my bra also. The only problem with that is if I forget to wear my bluetooth and am in a signing when it vibrates, I have been known to jump 2 feet in the air! Bill will sometimes carry it in his pocket during a signing but if not, I get some really strange looks when the d____ thing rings in my bra.

I have things I can wear around my neck to hold the phone but I am always getting it caught on things and it gets in my way.

And Yoli, give my name to your friend for her to put me on her list of potential customers.

Probably NOT a good idea! Here's why... A MUST Read!!

I got an email from a friend just last month that she received from a doctor of hers who is a breast cancer surgeon. I know this doctor's reputation and have personally heard him speak, so I know first hand that he is the real deal. The full text of his message is below. There are several links included to his informational website with much more info. I strongly encourage you all to look at this one and read the article:

http://www.beawarefoundation.org/cellphonerisk.html.

Feel free to copy this and forward it on to everyone you know - for their health! And thanks to those of you who brought this up. I had meant to forward the email to friends and family, but only got as far as flagging it for follow-up. I'll make a point now, of sending it on to the rest of my peeps!

********************************************
Dear Friends,

I am emailing you because of an issue that I believe to be of extreme medical importance. I am concerned that there may be a direct link between cell phone exposure and breast cancer. Before you conclude that I am “going off the deep end,” I want you to link to an article I wrote on the Be Aware website: http://www.beawarefoundation.org/cellphonerisk.html. It describes two women who for the past several years kept their cell phones in their bras. Both developed breast cancers in the exact locations where they placed their phones. Although there is no scientific evidence that cell phones cause breast cancer, there is a recent study linking cell phone use to brain cancer.

I am not saying that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the cell phones caused the breast cancer in our two patients. I am saying that women should “Be Aware” of the possibility that such a risk might exist. Once women are aware of the potential risks, they can draw their own conclusions.

The challenge of course, is making women aware of the risks, and that is why I need your help. I think the best way we can get the message out is for you to forward this email to all of your friends and to encourage them to do the same. Also, if you or your friends know of anyone who is aware of a similar case of cell phone exposure and breast cancer, I would like to know about it. You can contact us at: http://www.beawarefoundation.org/contactus.php. We will share any updated information on the subject in subsequent reports in the “Ask the Doctor” Section of the Be Aware website.

Thanks in advanced for joining our efforts to making women aware. I believe that with your support we will be even more effective in saving women’s lives.

With great appreciation,
John G. West, M.D.

Just curious. Did you go with another notary to a signing and sit in and watch?

Problem with carrying it in your bra is that one time it rang and I was embarrassed to answer it.
While in house I use a bag that I crocheted and hang from my neck inside is phone, small appt book and a pen.

Bunge Cords

I forgot about bunge cords! When our kids were little and Bill had a motorcycle, he used to give the kids rides on the bike. To keep them on he put bunge (spelling ?) cords around them and attached them to him and the bike. If he was able to keep our kids safe on a bike with bunge cords he should be able to make something that will keep my phone attached to me!!

All ideas are welcome because God forbid we should miss a call for a signing.

Re: Camera case..

I use a small camera case that I bought at the box store $10.00..clips onto my belt loops..The phone is always with me and in this case it easy to reach for it..I get a lot of compliments on it..I can always grab it easier than trying to fumble in a purse or pocket..I carry the phone everywhere and it usually rings when I am in the middle of feeding my animals..Horse, goats and chickens and I always chuckle because one of them is usually making a noise..

That's a good idea but I don't have any belt loops on my pants so I will have to keep searching for the right answer. Maybe they will make a cell phone with a watch band soon.
