So unprofessional for a title company to

call at 11:11am and agree to hire me at my fee not theirs for a 5pm closing and then not send a confirmation as of 2:30. After a phone call and still being told the confirmation was coming, I just sent them an e-mail and told them to find another notary (which is probably what they did after calling me). I'm not going to hold a slot while they shop around. I have another closing at 7pm for a reputable title and could only imagine if this is how they (the unprofessional company) manage their initial contact, then forget the rest of the process.

TC's who don't normally do mobile closings don't know

the process.
*We* know alot about mobile closing processes and procedures, but I've learned that
TC's who don't normally close outside their offices, or uses their own staff normally for out of office closings don't know about "confirmations".
If they don't say they will send a confirmation, I usually ask, and have always been accommodated with minimally an email confirming the appointment.
And.....even those companies who *know* to send one sometimes forget.
Always seems to happen when it's a busy day.

Agreed

I've had more than one TC call, and when I asked for a confirmation after accepting the assignment, the scheduler had no idea what I was talking about. About the only thing you can do if you have to call them back for a confirmation is to inform them politely that the signing is not accepted unless and until you receive a confirmation that includes the agreed upon fee.

Lo and behold

They called immediately after I posted and as it turns out they "supposedly" typed in the wrong e-mail address. Since the caller had the documents ready to go, I agreed to go ahead and close. For me it has been rare not to receive a confirmation in a timely fashion.

Re: Lo and behold

I remember a title company hiring me a few years ago (their name begins with "K"Wink and they never did send a confirmation. This company had told me on the phone that I would have to pay for shipping and they would reimburse me. But..with no confirmation for our agreed-upon fee...how am I supposed to bank on that?

I called and emailed them for a couple hours requesting a confirmation so that I could call and confirm with the borrowers. Nothing ever came, no call back either, so I called and left a message to remove me from their schedule, that I couldn't do a signing if they wouldn't send a confirmation. Then at 6:35pm...they called to say they are now emailing the docs. Of course, I was gone by then. When I got home, they had left probably four messages.

I guess they don't check email or their own voicemail. Good grief. The original signing time was 7pm in the next town over...and they send the docs at 6:35? Noooo thank you.

If I don't get a confirmation email from the hiring agency,

I send them a confirmation stating my fee and expectations. They are free to acknowledge and accept my conditions or they can 'cancel' the assignment.

Even if I do get a confirmation email, I still respond with my terms and conditions, restating the accepted fees. (More often than not, my terms and conditions match the hiring agency's, so there typically isn't any problem.)
