Speedy paid

I just received payment for 2 closings - 1 in January and 1 in February. When I called last week Ron said he took full responsibility for the non-payment and would mail the check immediately. I hope the check doesn't bounce.

Is this Speedy Closings in NJ? I just sent a nasty-gram this morning about nonpayment from January. I've been told countless times that the check was put in the mail on monday? (How many Mondays can one check be mailed and still never arrived?).

I hope I get my check too, so I can wash my hands of this firm entirely!
Thanks for spreading the hope--you made my day! Smile

When I talked to Ron I told him I had accepted a signing for this Friday (which I do have) and when I checked my records I had two outstanding invoices and had not called the borrowers for Friday's closing because I was thinking about sending the Friday closing back. He became very apologetic at that point. Perhaps that was the incentive for the payment. I guess you have to wait for them to call you for another one so that you can put on leverage.

I just called him and he said he was working on a March check run. I explained that I haven't been paid for two January closings and he said "Oh shit, really?" He said he could see it in his accounting system and would run it today.

I wonder if they changed accounting softwares and didn't get any training in the new program?

Regardless, I won't work for them again.

All the phone calls, emails and listening to their BS you need to do to get a payment out of them is more work than the closing. Imagine if I took four months to return a loan package and then said "Oh, I thought I sent that out...I'll have to look into that and get back to you." I'd look really professional.

I don't know what kind of problems some of the slow paying companies have but based on how slowly a lot of us get paid I am perhaps more sympathetic than I should be. Having said that I really need to defend Speedy Closing.

I have been doing signings for them for several years and have found both Frank and Ron to be very nice and very professional individuals. Yes I do have to give a little nudge once in a while to get my checks out but have never had a signing yet that I have not been paid for. I usually start my phone calls around the first of every month to follow up (nicely) on payments due for the 2 months prior. On May 1 - 5 I will be calling on any payments not yet received from anyone for March. My phone calls to Speedy have always resulted in a check within a few days of my call.

So, good luck and do not count them out too fast.

I accepted my first & last signing Speedy 2/2/10. Frank was very professional and nice. But I started inquiring about payment the 1st of April. Several emails with no reply were sent. I finally called and Frank said it was in the mail on the 12th. No check..But yesterdeay I did receive payment and the check was made out on 4/2 and not mailed until the 12th..Gee some snail mail a whole week to get a letter to Ohio from NJ?

But at least I did get paid!

I finally got my payment after a ton of emails and b/s phone calls. Frank did not like the idea when I emailed him a copy of the USPS website on how it would only take 2 days for a letter to go from NJ to PA not 20 days like he said. I also emailed him a copy of the comments here on Not Rot. I got an email from PayPal stating that I got an "ECHECK" from Speedy Closings and it will not clear untill this Friday.
Frank then emailed me telling me for now on he would pay me via PayPal as soon as I get the docs. No thank you!!!

I think that was a good idea to email comments from people he's telling the "same ol'" story to. Maybe they don't read the forums as much as we do but it does directly impact their business. Good post. IMO

This is SOP for Speedy. I've worked for them & they

always pay--usually 60 days + with reminder calls. If you check Signing Central, they are rated only 2 stars because of their slow-pay issues. Checking SC can save you a lot of hassle in the first place. Even though business has slowed severely, I am not taking any signings from companies that I have to chase my money.
