getting paid

why do all these companies, signing and now title companies, get paid...pay us whenever and give us the biggest excuses like we are creditors after there money AND WE DID THEM A SERVICE. IF IT WERENT FOR US THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A BUSINESS......I HAVE OVER 3,OOO DOLLARS NOT PAID AND I HAVE TO WAIT 3 MONTHS, DO YOU WAIT THAT LONG....I JOINED A WEBSITE RECENTLY FOR MORE BUSINESS AND I THINK I AM GETTING ALL THE CALLS FROM THE SIGNING COMPANIES WHO PAY THEMSELVES FIRST AND I HAVENT PAID US...IS ANYONE BUSY AND NOT BEING PAID....I FEEL LIKE "CANT CALL HER FIND SOMEONE NEW WHO I CAN SCREW.........BECAUSE I DON'T PAY....AND MAKE THEM WAIT 2/3 MONTHS....

Perhaps you should check out the companies you accept work from ... on SC!
And if you are owed 3000 dollars than you must have gone on working for companies that already had a delay in paying!

There are standard operating procedures a notary can adopt to avoid chasing after their money or working for free and avoid the headaches you mentioned.

1. Screen companies well - don't just work with anyone and everyone. Review their payment record - a one or two star rating is a huge red flag. Either decline or return jobs from companies demonstrating deadbeat behavior.

2. Charge a professional fee. Low ball fees equate to low ball behavior - handholding and excessive babysitting (i.e., call us when you get the docs, call us when you leave home, call us when you get to borrowers, call us while at the borrowers, call us when you walk out of the borrowers door, call us when you get in the car and again when you start your engine, etc.....ad nauseum). They look for any opportunity to short your check.

3. You are extending credit for each signing you complete. Set a limit on the number of signings you will complete before you require all invoices be paid in full. You can either go by the # of signings or a dollar amount. Stick to that limit and do not accept any more signings until all previous signings or the full dollar amount you've set is paid in full.

4. Hold companies accountable when they do not fulfill their end of the contract.

As the saying goes: Fool me once, shame on you.....fool me twice, shame on ME.

Re: totally agree with LKT/CA...learn!

This forum is invaluable. I've taken jobs while on the run then go to NotRot look on SC then do a search in this chatroom. If you find anything negative cancel signing, DON"T DO IT.
Have you looked up this company that owes you $3,000 on this site and did they have a bad reputation? If so why did you take so much work from them? That's a lot of jobs you did for them. Take control of your business.

It's not uncommon to have

that much outstanding in the pipeline as there aren't many that pay within a week. OP's post wasn't clear whether this was one co. or many, but I think 'many' due to references to coS and tcS. Not that all the advice given wasn't good--because it surely was.

Re: It's not uncommon to have

Most of the companies I work with pay within 30 to 45 days. After that I apply a gently nudge. I am always happy when I have $3,000 to $4,000 in the pipeline because that means I have been busy. However, if this were from only one company I would be freakin out!
Pay attention to the advise you have been given here.

Re: It's not uncommon to have

My general rule..If I get a call from a new company I will check them out here first, then I will proceed..but I will not do more than 3 signings with them until they have established a good payment history with me..

Some companies prey on newbies..they will call them for quite a few signings in a row the newbie is excited and excepts them all and then later realize they will have a payment issues.

Please do the research now..or you will be researching later how to collect!
