A question about premier membership

A few messages ago there was a question and some answers about becoming a premier member of Notary Rotary and I responded favorably.

Since then I received a PM which indicated to me that people are being charged different amounts. These amounts can vary by as much as more than $100.00. I would like to know the reasoning behind this. I thought we all paid the same amount for the premier membership since it is not based on priority listings as is 123.

I feel badly because I have been recommending to all of my students that they join Notary Rotary as premier members but did not realize that some may end up paying a lot more money than others.

Any thoughts from someone in the know would be appreciated.

It is important to check your membership level sometime there are specials that you can take advantage of that will cut cost almost in half.

I believe that once you purchase a Premier Membership,

your price if grandfathered ( grandmothered??) .
I have been Prmier since soon after NOTROT was founded.
Might be a bit more complicated than that, but think that is disclosed in the
"membership" section.

Sorry, but $139 a year?

That is more than any other notary organization. Sure it might make my name higher on the list but when we are making peanuts as it is and can rarely get a $125 signing these days, I do not find $139 for membership on this website to be economically feasible for my business.

Especially when organizations like the American Association of Notaries is only $19 a year.

Re: Sorry, but $139 a year?

My initial membership was $139.00 per year. Each year it has dropped and last year was $59.00 and my upcoming renewal will be $59.00. What I get from Notary Rotary is substantially more "bang for the buck" than any other places I have advertised. I am also a California Registered Tax Preparer. The advertising in that field is substantially more and provides less. JMHO

Wrong on several things here ...

It isn't "more than any other notary organization" - although NotRot is not an "organization" per sey. My premium renewal fee has been the same here for the past 4 years, and has been roughly 1/12th of what I pay at the 'counting' site. It's easy to say $139 is not economically feasible if you have never invested in advertising optimally (as in, close to the top of the list, for one thing) and seeing what that brings you back in dollars.

If it costs you ONE SIGNING to reach the break-even point, and that one signing comes from a new vender - what's THAT worth? Is there an easier, better, cheaper way to get those clients who ARE coming here to find you? Every new vendor is a potential new stream of revenue, and there's two primary places long accepted as where to snag them.

In addition - where do YOU go when you need a fast and 'crowded room' opinion on something? Anyone who has read the infamous message thread (lol - wow, I'm getting old - now can't REMEMBER the 'infamous' message thread! anyway ...) if you've read it, what was that worth?

What business can even daydream about being successful if they don't include advertising into their costs?

Well said, Renee. This is not a membership per se.

It is about an advertising listing. My experience was that I got no calls on the free membership & lots of calls when I paid for premium membership. I've said this many times--I spend my advertising $$$ on 3 sites only, and this one is a major source of advertising for me. That's why it's so important to have a complete profile.
I recently paid $59 for my renewal. That's pretty cheap IMO--less than the cost of one signing.

Do a trial!

What I did was pay the monthly fee for last month and this month. If this month is as good as last, with signing companies telling me they found me here (unprompted by me) then I'll do the year. So far I made up in three signings what the yearly cost would've been.

Each person, however, has different markets.

Tell you what, FlaNotary2 ....

Google search your city with the word notary and see if the American Association of Notaries comes up on the first page. If someone is looking for service, they will use whatever search engine and usually stops and calls a person first on the first page.

I just did several Florida cities that way, and no first page for the American Association of Notaries.

I get a lot of business from this site. It shows up on the first page every time, along with a couple of others. If a site doesn't show up on the first page, then you are wasting your money IMO.

It's not random, it depends on where you are. If I recall correctly, the explanation I got at the time was that the more competition you have, the higher the initial price. It DOES go down on renewal. I think i started at $139 the first year, and it was $59 the last time it came up for renewal. I didn't renew because I'm no longer doing signings.

I must say that

my only question was not is the fee worth it, which in my opinion, it certainly has been beneficial to me over the years to be a premier member. My question was due to the fact that I was totally unaware that there was a schedule of fees which varied all over the country.

I thought we all paid the same membership fee.

According to this thread it appears that we all do pay the

same fee. If you have any questions, why not call NR on Monday to get the facts.
