Brother Printer Model HL 5370 DW

Hi everyone,

I just hung up from Brother after finally setting up my new printer, $326.99, to learn that this printer does not automatically select from the two trays it has, letter and legal.

Is there a printer that identifies from PDF's what tray to pull the paper from? Brother is telling me I can't get my money back and was never told it can print from either tray with a PDF file selecting what tray to pull from.

If this is true I would like to know but it was my understanding that there are printers that do that and that this printer did that.

I spoke with "Jan" in Manilla at tech support who could care less that this mistake was made and that I am out $326.99.

Anyone else have trouble with Brother? I bought this from Brother as I have a wonderful Brother MFC 8440 that has worked great. I didn't need another printer except one that auto selects the paper size.

I am really angry at Brother.

Check your voicemail. The info you got from "Manila" is wrong.

You don't have to have a 2 drawer printer for legal/letter in the same package. Just set the settings so you can print legal size in the below drawer and letter in the front multipurpose tray.

This is one of the printers I have and it does a beautiful job printing both sizes. BrotherOwner is correct, you were given the wrong info. I emailed brother from their website and rec'd a reply in a day or so with the proper instructions to set it up.

Hope you get it working quickly!!

Grrrrr--tech support somewhere across the world--they

usually don't know & only have a script to follow. It appears someone has already given you the correct info. None of these printers automatically choose the paper size. You need to go into your printer properties & preferences to do the settings.
Also, I'd call Brother tech support during the day & let them know you were given incorrect information on a product that you had just purchased from them.
I hope you enjoy your new printer.

I have this printer and it does auto select. I've been using it for a year and a half. Call brother again, they talked me through the setup process. I can't remember how I made it work, but it does work.

Thank you ALL very much for your help and support. I love Notary Rotary! Finally the supervisor, in Manila called me back about 20 min ago and walked me through printer preferences. I found an old pdf file and I think it actually DID select the paper size and tray. Wow, I will test it again but if this works like this, I AM SO HAPPY.

Again, thank you folks for being so great and ready to help.

Great. Once these printers are set up they will select the paper size according to the pdf.
I've used a 5250 & now a 5240. They work great for printing mixed packages. I think your model has duplexing. As far as I know, that hasn't been approved for printing docs on both sides.

Does anyone have a customer support person/telephone number that I can use and count on to get some help setting up my printer?

Thank you.

Thanks everyone for their comments on this topic - great to know! I am in the market for a new printer and would also like to have one that auto selects which size paper to use.
