Companies with poor ratings

I am glad that you guys rate the companies on this site. When ever I get a call from a company I have never heard of I always check out what you guys have to say about them. Most times they are listed. I am amazed, however, that notaries continue to work for companies that habitually don't pay notaries well, on time or even at all. When you see 1 star and a list of complaints for over a year...why would you accept work from them? I don't. I have found that it just isn't worth it. Keep yourselves available to the companies that pay. While you are spending time and money working for pathologic nonpaying companies you are not available when a company that pays well and on time contacts you.

Also, time unnecessarily away from family, friends, own personal endeavors, etc. You know, the Priceless Times.

I think they do it because they think that the company will make an exception for them or as I've read people here say, "Everyone deserves a chance", especially if they mention the poor ratings and the company gives them some sob story or says all those problems are in the past and makes false promises of timely payment. Then they find out that once the job is done, all bets are off.

I take signings from everyone unless I know that they don't pay. After I take the signing, I check them out on SC and if they are a non payer I call them back, cancel the signing and let them know exactly why I am cancelling. The non paying companies never try to defend themselves they usually just slink away (in shame maybe?) These people need to know why we are not taking work from them Loud and Clear!

Ditto.

If possible, I look them up while I'm on the phone or shortly after as well. I turned down 3 last week because of the ratings and comments on NotRot.

* "Everyone deserves a chance",... * -- Perfect!

I have a few responses to that one.

-Barf.

-Didn't they already have about 100 chances with notaries that they haven't paid yet?

-You rock!! That is a terrific attitude. (If you were in my zip code I would love the way you look at things...because with that outlook, you won't be in business very long!)

That's why we all participate in SC & the forum. I can remember when I was a newbie, didn't have any of those sources, and got involved in some companies that were poor payers.
It still gets me that some read those comments & still chose "to give the benefit of the doubt".
The doubt will turn back on you & it will be "doubt if you will get paid". LOL
