Fees

I have been getting more and more general notary work lately. My problem is that I am not sure, beyond the $2 per notarization fee, what I should charge when I am requested to come to a remote location. Any feed back would be appreciated.

Just a general thought would be why they aren't going to a bank and if you are really offering them a service that can't be found elsewhere....for instance, needed after bank hours or something to that effect. Then I would just charge whatever I feel I would be willing to pay myself.

What does your state allow regarding travel fees, etc. I have a minimum fee of $25 for my general mobile notary work ($5/notarization in VA). I know others who won't charge less than $50, but I think that's too high. I often refer calls I get to a local pack & ship store when it is really not mobile services they require.
