Final Link Signing

I just got a call from Final Link Signing to do a closing for Monday. I accepted it then I went to Signing Central and discovered they have a very poor rating. I called them back and told them I can't do it and told them why. They didn't seem surprised, they just said OK. In the background there was noise that reminded me of a boiler-room operation. You know the kind, where many people are talking on the phone at once. I think they are probably gearing up to make a killing by cheating notaries out of their fees and then they'll blow town. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole.

Unfortunately, these companies can continue to operate because the majority of notaries do not participate in any forums & many will take work from anyone.

Just turned one down from them yesterday. So thankful we have this site that saves us so much aggravation.

I know. I turned down 2 so far. I'm thankful for this site also. If more notaries would take the time to look here, those crooked companys would be out of business pronto.

Sadly, that's not necessarily true. See Message 349645

Because 1 Notary got paid by sox doesn't mean it is not necessarily true. If we all here on Notary Rotary did not do work for the non paying companies they would have an increasingly difficult time assigning their work and that could mean the demise of many if not most of them. The problem will always occur when one of us seems to think they will be the one to get paid and is then stiffed. The president of sox guaranteed the Notary payment and the Notary was paid. However, how many others have not been paid after they were guaranteed to be paid.

Where would you look up the company to see the paying record?

forre...top of this page, 4th blue tab from left....

Signing Central. Often referred to as "SC". Mother lode of info on companies. Use it often.

And if everybody on Notary Rotary sent me $100 a month, I wouldn't have to worry about dealing with non paying companies ever again.

As long as we're wishing for things that are never EVER going to happen in our lifetimes, I figured I'd throw mine in there.

At the beginning of this thread, you will notice a little link of chain - if you click on that, all conversations about this company will come up and you can read all about them. Sometimes Signing Central is not as explicit due to space limitations but you and I and anyone else can write in this messages as much as we wish to write.

DD did not link this thread, so I did as illustration for you to see the real power here on NotRot that is available to us. If everyone would do this when they write about a company, then we would all be able to have true power at our fingertips and less searching using the Orange Search button.

The Orange Search button is also your good friend - ask the search engine about a company and a listing will come up showing the various threads, their dates, number of replies, etc. It is important that when you discuss a company that you are accurate as to name, location and phone numbers. Many companies have names like another so to be fair, give as much info as possible. Also, equally important, don't ask in the subject line: Anyone heard of this company? and in the message say who it is. Put the company in the subject line so that the search engine can work FOR you properly and effectively.

One other piece of advice?Hint? There are companies who used to be great, everyone loved working for them. Hard times came along and they took a nose dive. Dates are important no matter how much someone loves a company - look for those recent dates, searching and in Signing Central. Just because a company has 5 stars 2-3 years ago and now has lots of 1-2 stars and their average is 4 stars does not mean they are a 4 star company now.

Good luck - remember to link and to rate. Thanks in advance.
