Interesting tweet...

Just saw the following on Twitter...

"Jurats don't need ID except in CA. Don't forget to administer oath. Signer must raise right hand swear to truth of document."

Say what? That can't possibly be right, can it? Only California requires ID for a jurat?

(BTW, in CA the raising of the right hand is NOT legally required... it's just tradition.)

What state is the "tweeter" from?

As far as I know, ID is required in all states for both jurats and acknowledgements.

I'm pretty sure the person is in California. at least that's where the business is located... and it's one we all know... and many here pay them big bucks for advertising. That's why I'm so surprised to have that from them.

If it's who I think it is, he's been posting some stuff on his site that is really off the mark. This one might top them all. No I.D.? Preposterous.

Re: So I'm NOT alone in wondering what's up?

Why are they sending out tweets that are obviously posts culled from their forum?

Where is credit given to the original source of the information?

Re: Interesting tweet...possibly

just trying to generate controversy--which results in more interest--which results in more hits--which~~, well, that's my take.

Flat out BS tweet. Good Grief. "Tweets" now? How does

a non-Tweeter, or Twitterer, or - whateverer - tell a Tweeter-in-Error: "NOT TRUE. Bad info! Wrong, wrong wrong!"?

Geez. What idiocy.

Some attention is better than no attention according to children, so they act up.

In this case, bad publicity is better than no publicity. I tend to agree with the other poster who suggested this angle.

It could very well be to generate hits..I thought of that

But this is a site that "certifies" NSA's...gives signing courses...I believe they give notary courses too..as I posted on FB, new notaries rely on their expertise - anyone reading that and not knowing any better (and we know they walk among us!)....oy!! The problems that can be result.

Generate conversation in the form of debate or posing a scenario - not posting blatantly false information.

I would just consider the source and let it go at that.

That's the problem Jan - the source should know better

They've taken down the tweet per FB post a few minutes ago....Smile

He is a joke and when called out tends to respond with

"I'm far too busy to answer your questions." I don't even bother to log on to his site any longer. It's just not worth my time or my advertising money any longer.

After I questioned him on some things, and receiving the message above in response, my profile notes were missing and took over a week to "update".
