Nations Signature Closers, Kansas - email just received:

Signing Agents,

We wanted to take a second and touch base with our field representatives. We first wanted to say you guys have been doing an excellent job at representing us. As we all know, our volume was previously down this year; however, we are sure most of you noticed that we have gradually started to revert to our normal volume. We are happy to announce that the month of August will definitely increase our work load, and we will be able to get our field agents the closings you guys need. As usual, we are sure this will depend on how busy your specific area is, but numbers are definitely sky rocketing this month. It is because of our joint effort we have been able to remain one of the best signing companies in the business; not to mention one of the few that have survived.

As we previously stated you guys are doing an excellent job at representing us; however, we are always trying to strive to perfect our service for our clients. We, of course, can not do this job without our field agents, so we are trying to provide our notaries with every tool they need so we both can succeed. That being said, not all of our notaries have made these specific mistakes, but our "Preferred" notaries are definitely raising the bar on the quality of notary work, and we are challenging every one of our notaries to match our top notaries. Needless to say, the better quality and professionalism our field agents provide our clients, the more closings we can provide for you all. Here is a small list of a few items below and an explanation of these items/changes.

# Signature Variations: Please ensure borrowers are signing consistently. Good rule of thumb is that it is better to over-sign than undersign. View some of their signature pages before you have them sign to see if any require a full signature, then have the borrowers sign the same way throughout the package.

# NSC Inserts: Some of you may have noticed that we have been sending these along with the docs that Title sends. Between our inserts and the Title Company's, these should cover the majority of problems you guys run in to. We created these based on the common errors that were made by notaries within the past year.

# Notary Error Deductions: Previously we were deducting $10 every time an error was made, as you already know, to cover the price of our Fed Ex label we make. If you are on a file that we have provided an NSC Insert for and an error still occurs we will then deduct $10 for the label and $10 for the error. Please do not take this in a negative way; we have taken the time to outline common errors and we are trying to rectify these with the Inserts to provide better customer service for everyone.

NOTE: You are our field agents, and you guys are doing this on a day to day basis; if you notice anything that will help you or other notaries that can be placed on the NSC Insert please let me know and we will add it. You can email me at [e-mail address]. Otherwise reply to the support box confirming you understanding of this newsletter.

Thank you for being a vital part of our team!

Am I confused? Did Nations Signature Closers start requiring notaries pay an annual fee to them of $25.00?

According to a signing agent friend, they are now charging $25 if you want to be hired by them. I'm local....Nations Signature is not far from me. They rarely hire me because I won't do $65 signings.

I also won't pay a DIME to sign up with a signing service!

I was beginning to feel left out until I read your post, Julie. Now I remember that I didn't sign up with them because of the $25 fee. I agree, I do not pay anyone to call me and offer low ball fees + take over 15 days (don't know their pay schedule but IF I ever paid anyone to sign up they would have to pay me within 15 days or pay late charges) to pay or try to nickle and dime me to death. As James pointed out, it does not take $20 to FedEx any package to fix any notary errors. So far, no errors here but everyone can have a bad day.

Guess that's why they've never called me for a signing ... they can't meet my fee and like others have stated, I won't pay an SS to work for them.

The sad part about it is some of us have FedEx accounts and it doesn't cost that much. If we made in error, we would correct it and ship at our own expense(account). Dah!

This is the one of reasons why

I could not sign the agreement that was email to me by this organization. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand what they are trying to accomplish, but it will be w/o me.

What's with the "you guys"?

you guys you guys you guys you guys I finally stopped counting. I see NSC continues full steam ahead with its unprofessional missives. I am SO GLAD I dumped them. My life is sooo much better without them and their $10 this and $10 that and now their inserts. (I already told them where they could insert their inserts.) Since this latest wonderment is from chdoss, I wonder if that dopey vice president Lance is gone? Sending out these sermons used to be his territory until he got torn up on NR for their previous mass mailing.

Have a good weekend you guysyou guysyou guysyou guys!

Yeah, me too re: that term. My initial reaction: Why not guys & gals? Or, in this "new age", is the term "guys" supposed to be gender neutral? Hmmmm .....

How else are you supposed to take it? They're basically saying they will ding you $20 for something they consider to be a mistake, but you should see that as a good thing.

Who in their right mind would accept an assignment under those conditions?

Do we ge paid extra for NSC's mistakes?

I'm sure they meant to be fair to all and offer to pay us $10 more for each of their mistakes, especially when multiple pages of repetitious and conflicting instructions are the cause.
