Printer Issue (HP 1320)

My new cartridge from LD seems to be leaving a few dots in a single line down the page. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad cartridge.

Usually means it's a scratched OPC drum (if you lift the cover over the roller, you might be able to see the scratch on the green plastic film) which is common when the cartridge is near the end of it's life. However, if you just bought it, then it usually means they may not have changed out the OPC drum when they refurbished the cartridge. The drum usually gets scratched over the life of the cartridge since its always in contact with the paper, but a new cartridge should be scratch free. Once the drum is scratched, you have to replace it or else you will keep getting that thin dotted line along all your pages. I am starting to wonder if LD may have changed their refurbishing vendor since NOT replacing the OPC drum unit in a cartridge can save a lot of $$$....

I looked at the green film.

It shows 2 black dots on one side. Could that be it?

Re: I looked at the green film.

well, the black dots are probably just toner crud. The scratch on the roller would be in the same location where the vertical dotted lines are on your paper...you could try to clean off the black dots with a paper towel and see if the scratch is underneath them...

LD is sending me a new one today.

It's good that they stand behind their products.
