Can't see it happening. You go and charge something on a credit card at a store and you get thirty days to pay. That's just standard business practice. The money you put out to print docs, travel to signings, take phone calls, etc. is just the cost of doing business.

Hi, Shel. It's called a stream of commerce. It's in no-
way cash on the barrel-head, in this biz, usually. Bigger companies than we have systems for Receivables and Payables, and successful vendors adapt to those conditions. Small sub-contractors get used to those systems.
Trick is - whatever the size -those of solid competence, careful budgeting and effective marketing, along with hard work, generally win the day through the seasons, year after year.
Jmho.

Waiting for payment is part of this business. If you want payment immediately, you need to change your business - maybe concentrate more on general notary work, or move onto something different.

Once again, the orange search button is your friend.
You get a job from an employer, you wait 2 or 4 weeks for your paycheck. Sometimes it's a little longer in this business, but most jobs that you do, you will be laying out money, such as commuting expenses, new clothing etc. before you get a paycheck. That's life.
Sounds like you need to get a handle on your personal expenses and cash flow. Nothing ruins a business plan like owing money before you even get going.
Perhaps if you begin by searching for and reading message #33325 and the replies, you may find a lot of information that will be useful to you
Many businesses run on accounts receivable. This is one of them ....

This has been discussed in the industry many times. There
is no way we're going to get paid like the appraisers. Also, they have just as many problems getting paid as we do. This business is like any other. We submit an invoice & are usually paid within 30 days. This is not a "cash for your services" business. If that was your expectation, then you needed to do more research. That's why many notaries are turning to general notary work. That is one way to be paid immediately for your services.

Too many people jump into this business with the mentality that this is just a job and are not prepared to play the waiting to get paid game.

Oh so true!
It's not a J-O-B, it is a BUSINESS and signing agents need to treat it as such. If they want a job, go to work for somebody. If you want to remain independent and successful, learn how to run the business.

Re: Oh so true!
There are far too many people in this business who do not realize they are running a business and who understand business principles. Some people listen to the propaganda spread by some of the organizations they make it appear that you tell people you are a Notary, the money rolls in the door to the tune of at least $100,00 a year. With unemployment and under employment high, this can sound lucrative for some people.
