mortgage docs

I think their fees are too low, anyone ever work for them and if so what was your experience?

once upon a time

It's been over a year since I worked for them. They paid $70 for a very neat HELOC pkg and they kept it close to home. It was a sweet deal. They always paid quickly. When HELOCs disappeared so did they. Well...not completely. They are still there but they are low ballers. I have not closed anything for them in a long time. I would though, if they met my fee.

I did a LOT of work for them from 2004 to 2007. They were my main company. Then they begged me to take a job way outside the city...an hour drive...and they agreed to my fee. I confirmed the appt, printed the docs and off I went. Unbeknownst to me, the appt had been rebooked. Although I had told the BO I'd meet him at his place of business (at his request) he was not there. The receptionist called him and he said the appt had been changed to Monday. So,why didn't he call me? Why didn't anyone call me?

I always give the borrower my phone and ask them to call if anything changes. Well, he didn't. Neither did MortgageDocs. I called them from there and called again when I got home. It was not my screwup but they wanted to only pay me a trip fee. I said No. I'd printed docs, driven 2 HOURS and they wanted to pay me $50? I said no. He said he'd pay me full fee when I went back on Monday. I said I won't go back on Monday unless you pay full fee for today. Full fee was only $100, mind you. This was in 2007.

Granted, I was having a bad week that week...had some severe challenges going on with my health. If I'd been in my right mind, I may have just accepted the trip fee because I was fairly certain I'd lose his business. I didn't feel it was fair though, and didn't feel I should be shorted for something that was not my fault. They paid...but they took me off their calling list.

Now, they only call if they can't find anyone else (3 times in 3 years) and I decline because their refi fees are so low as to be laughable. I guess the Wamu HELOCs that I used to do are gone.

They don't pay until the 25th of the following month, so signings done early in the month take a long time for payment.

Other than lack of loyalty and low pay, I have no beef with MD.

They called me yesterday to do two signings in the same general area, they agreed to my fee for both and when I asked that the docs be sent over the morning of the signings, they replied an hour later that the TC was not able to do that and they were going to find someone else to do the signings because of that reason. Now mind you, they just scheduled an appt for 10am and 1pm and they can't get the docs out by that morning. Then I get a call from one of the LOs and I told her that they had reassigned the signing to another notary closer to the area. I work in a very rural area and used to work for them alot when I first got started in 2004 - 2005 and they do pay on time and will meet your fee but I feel like they are always shopping for the best price, not the best notary. Lately it seems like they are not as organized as they were in the past either.

Hi,
I just did an assignment for them this past Friday evening. I thought it strange when the client asked me why there was another Notary coming out Saturday morning? I have two other signing's this week and am starting to wonder if they assign more than one person to go to the assignment and pay whoever gets them to sign first? It just seems very ODD? Any advice out there?
Thanks,
Kris

Yeah, I agree. They wanted me to do a full closing for half of what I usually get from other companies. I probably won't work for them in the future if these are their fees--not worth it.
