Adobe error message
Printing docs tonight....All but about 10 pages printed correctly...Then received an Adobe error message: Cannot find or create the font 'ZTRID.tmp,BOLD. Some characters may not display or print correctly. I have never had this message before and we are on Adobe 9.0..Is this my problem or the title company that sent us the docs?
Help please...Thanks

I get different error messages from different companies. I think it's the Version they are using as I've noticed that I get 'this' error from 'this' co. and 'that' error from 'that' co. It's the consistancy that makes me think it's a difference in Versions. Just printed some docs for some TC that had a statement on the download website....'some people experience problems with Adobe 7, if you do, go back to Adobe 6'. While the Adobe Reader is a freebie, the Adobe Writer isn't, so I guess they hang on as long as possible.

It's the sender's error. When they make a PDF file, there are a couple of options concerning fonts; they can be included in the file or not. A "font table" is created whenever a PDF file is created. If the fonts are not 'system' fonts, they are usually included in the PDF file. If the creator does not include the font, then the reader looks on the current machine to see if the font is installed. If it is not installed, the error message is displayed. You should have the option to print the pages that generate the error if a valid font of the same family is available.

What do I need to ask the title company to do so I can print? Thanks...Zeb

Addendum ...
This problem only appears in versions since 8.0. Before that, the reader would not inform the user and automatically use a system font substitution. The only way to rectify the problem is to rebuild the PDF file or install the same font the creator used to build the file in the first place.

I've gotten similar error messages and I believe many times it has to do with a logo which the title company created specifically for their docs but it's not a standard font so it doesn't print correctly. I doubt anyone who created a text document would deliberately use a non-standard font. If they have any knowledge of creating docs in Adobe they know some fonts can't be read by other versions (or should know at least). MHO
