Debt Settlement - anyone familiar with this?

Was offered one, about 25 pages, no notarizations, pick up voided check. Was told that this was to get out of debt with a settlement between debtor and credit card companies, etc. Then something about lawyer, but I don't really remember as I was napping when the call woke me. I declined, didn't feel comfortable since: why me as there are no notarizations.

Comments? Anyone ever do one?

Yes I have, but there was notarization involved. But these types of transactions are dying out because of the credit reform.
