Fees
I am new to this site. I am a notary in CT and NY with over 10 years experience, my average fee is 150. Is that to much for this site? I would appreciate everyones input. Thank you

No one here dictates what fees others can charge. You are self-employed and entitled to set your own fees. Your charges are in line with my charges...but it doesn't mean companies will pay that these days. Sad, that.

It will be high for most signing companies, but reputable title companies should not have a problem with that fee. Do a search in your zip code to see how many notaries are in your area. If you are in an area with a higher cost of living, that may also help.
When you take all factors into consideration, only you can determine how much you need to make in order for the work to be profitable.

Re:Rising price of paper, gas, added to BLIZZARD or winter..
driving conditions which decrease vehicle efficiency/increase travel time/ pose greater risk to your trip, LIFE and vehicle, all figure into the equation. More than a few pages of fax backs also require significant amount of your time. That said, 150, 175 or 200+ may not be out of order depending on the above conditions, and all the other strange requests we see. Some have to deal also with tolls or high downtown short term parking fees. If you have 10 years of experience I'm sure you've seen your share. As you know title companies do pay these fees. OH, WELCOME!!!!!

Re: Are you a notary in both CT and NY?
How do you get around the ‘residency’ requirements? Or do NY and CT have some sort of reciprocity agreement?

Why Do You Ask?
You have more than 10 years experience, you should be telling us. Do not ask us, look at the numbers. Maybe your average fee is $150, but do you have any business? Answer this to your self, do not ask us. You also need to look at the community you are serving. How many transactions "really" happen there. A Lot or just a few. How far do you have to travel to get a sustainable number of signings daily. How many other NSA's are in your area. These are all balancing factors in determining how you should price your services. Many people on this site pro-port very high signing prices, but they may have very different circumstances than yours. Some may have to drive 80 miles round trip and others may just need incentive to get 800lbs out of their chair.
I will not tell you our fees, but I will tell you that proper balance and modest greed has created a family of individuals that are all independent Notaries that do very well. Including myself, my wife, my Father-in-Law, my Father, my Daughter, Sister-in-Law, and an Uncle.
Turn and Earn! You do not get wealthy on any deal, just do a lot of deals!
We work our Guts Out, all hours, But, my wife tells me we are doing OK!
I do maybe 30 signings a week, mostly agencies, my wife 40, but she is mostly title direct. (that is cool)
Bottom-line, get a sense of your market and stress the price, but get the job, ALWAYS.
Mark

Thank you for your input. I am new to this site and just wanted to get a feel for what companies that use this site pay on average. It is nor worth for me to do a signing for 50 ot 75 dollars, with cost of paper, toner and gas we have make money not work to breakeven.
I am happy to hear that your entire family does well in this business.
