Not out of line at all
***I asked them how long I would have to wait for the 20.00 and they said 30 days. I said that is totally out of line ***
Business runs on a 30-day billing cycle, whether the account payable is $20 or $20,000. That's neither unusual or unreasonable. What's unreasonable is the $20 fee, which you apparently found quite acceptable. I don't walk out my front door for less than $50.
Well...that's not <completely> true. If I get a phone call from a woman who says her car has been towed, and she sounds like she's in my age bracket, and she sounds cute, I'll meet her at the Starbucks next door for $25.
Of course, like a bristlecone pine, there aren't that many in my age bracket, so I don't do many $25 notarizations. And I can testify -- boy, can I testify -- that <sounding> cute and <being> cute are two vastly different things.

Re: Agree
I agree with Hugh - the part about not leaving your house for less than $50 no matter what. $20 is an insult under any circumstances , but especailly for what they're asking you to do - travel, notarize, deliver ... are they nuts? No, they're seeing how cheap they can go ....
