Is it Necessary to Renew Background Checks?
A couple years ago I was background screened by the National Notary Association as a loan signing agent. Does anyone know if it's necessary to have this or any other background check on Notary Rotary if you already have established relationships with agencies? I'm just trying to spare unnecessary expenses. I tend to throw money away easily but this year I plan on being more careful.
I'd appreciate any feedback on this. Thank you and hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

You can get one for free from Lexis Nexis - see Msg #312286. This is the only BGC I have ever had done, and it was accepted by the one company that requested a BGC from me.

I went to their website and didnt see anything about a
criminal BGC and thats the one we companies that hire us are interested in. Does anyone have a web address that includes this they are willing to share? Happy new year everyone!

Someone told me that LexisNexis renews for free on an annual basis if you request it.

You are a CA Notary
We are background checked through the CA Department of Justice and the FBI as a requirement to receive a commission.....that should be good enough. Why would you pay for another background check?

There is 1 or possibly 2 co's that require BGC through NNA
before they will hire us. I am not convinced I will get an additional one done in any case. I have lived without that particular co. for the past couple years since they made that a requirement so I am sure I can continue to go through life without their business.

Re: You are a CA Notary
Sometimes companies request background checks even though we've already been checked out through the FBI/DOJ. It could be due to the fact a notary can commit a crime within 4 years of the check.
