Loan Modification Application calls -
Had 2 calls yesterday for loan mod application.
First caller (619-481-5807 -- didn't catch name) said it was 30 page doc with 1 notarization and pick up items on check list. Picking up checks was never mentioned. Couldn't meet my fee.
Second caller (Notary Pro, 714-824-8685) said they had 2 to do tomorrow in same town. 30 page doc, pick up items on check list and 3 post-dated checks. We didn't even get to fee discussion. Told them I don't do those.

Do they not know up-front fees are a no no??
I thought CA was the first state to put that through - good grief.

Re: Do they not know up-front fees are a no no??
I think they try to get around it by cashing the checks after the application has been processed (Not approved). I have seen that fee, about $3,900.00 dollars. No I haven't done any but a senior citizen at the center showed one to me and asked what I thought?

This is exactly what 21st Century was doing...just before
their surprise party with the FBI...there's no getting around it - there are to be no fees due until the services are complete...period.
I can't believe there's still companies doing this...

Hopefully after 1/31/11 this will stop.

Pfftt..it's already illegal in a majority of the states
and apparently it hasn't stopped them yet...
This should have stopped already - too bad the general pubic isn't onto the thieves yet..
Okay..I'm done..
