New to Me Technology

For as long as we've had cell phones; I seem to end up with the hand me downs. My kids usually get the newest and greatest when their contracts renew. So my daughter just got what she considers better than the iphone.
Consequently, yea!! I now have an iphone.

Any apps you up to date, mobile notaries find useful to our particular work?

I know I'm about three years behind the times, but I'm kind of excited about making good use of it.

Before this I used my Blackberry (also a hand me down) to tether, email, map, ...stuff like that but I'd like to have apps for maybe the financial end of this, like quickbooks app maybe?

TIA!!

Good luck.

I went into technology shock about 10 years ago.

I don't have a DVD player.

My VCR player, in fact, is still flashing "12, "12, "12" because the technology paralysis from which I suffer prevents me from attempting to set it to the correct time.

Like you, my daughter has upgraded, and has an iPhone available for me. I prefer my Boost Mobile flipphone. I know how to answer a call on it. I know how to make a call on it. I can determine who has called me and/or left messages. I do not know how to text on it. I do not know how to retrieve my emails on it. I don't propose to learn.

I have, however, made one major technological advance. I can now use both a stick shift and those new automatic transmissions.

Let me guess...

Do you also save every 30-year-old piece of electronic equipment you have purchased because you "might need it someday"?

I know exactly how you feel. I'm trying desperately to keep up. Yesterday I invited my granddaughter to watch a movie with me. (Her movie). After it wouldn't play on my DVD player she, THE FOUR YEAR OLD, informed me that the disk was blue ray, wanted to know if I had a different machine "...like maybe a laptop or something."

geez.

I'm going to work with this for a bit. Because the kids think I'm ready to get one of those advertised phones with the large number pad Jitterbug or something like that.

I've had an iphone for a couple of years.
What I like best is using their app "MobileMe" this pushes all my calendar appointments to my phone so I can see if I'm available when someone calls for a signing and I'm away from my PC.
It also syncs my contacts and email.

I have been fighting with my Droid phone since June. I would L O V E to go back to a crackberry.

Not sure if it's the phone or me but we are having irreconcileable differences - I would never intentionally harm the phone, but I am hoping that it will throw itself off the roof of the house, or under the tires of my car, or.....
I would so love to use the insurance $ to buy another crackberry.

I think I would agree with you. IMO Blackberry is still the way to go in this biz. I have the BB Storm, 2 years old now, and Vz is trying to get me to take a new phone so they can get me under contract--not going to happen. :-) I've also heard of lot of people having major probs with the newest I-phone 4.

I also have the BB Storm, and my only problem with it is that my fingers are too fat for the on-screen keyboard. Texting/email can be an adventure at times (and some of my clients insist on texting - you do what you gotta do...).

I'm planning to switch to either a Droid or an iPhone (Verizon will have the iPhones at some point next year).

New on the horizon are little portable keyboards for smart phones. I also have issues with "fat fingers" when texting, but I stayed away from a BB when only those itty, bitty keyboards were available. It amazes me that so many people can use them. I couldn't image being in the car at night trying to dial a phone no. on one of those. LOL
