Please Leave A Message

Don't get me wrong I completely understand that signing companies have lots of calls to make and will cycle through the notaries until they are able to reach one, but I sure wish they would leave a message so I can call back. Guess that's what I get for taking a shower. *Sigh* I need some work Frown

Gosh, I was all set to leave you a message but I'm not TC

or SS. (sigh)

Take that phone to the bathroom with you. When it rings, turn off water and shiver with delight you got work!

Yah, and use No More Tears Baby Shampoo to when you turn off the water to answer the phone you're not standing in the shower crying when you're trying to get a new closing. LOL

Leave message and give you 5 minutes to call back!

Of course the loyal clients will do that.

Even loyal clients can have a new person working for them and not know to leave a message.
I answer my phone even if I have shampoo in my hair and am sopping wet, have meatball mix all over my hands or am in a signing. I learned a long time ago that answering your phone every time it rings can mean the difference between having an ok month and having a great month. IMO it is just part of the job.

And I thought I was the only notary who did that. I take my cell phone with me were ever I go.

Yes, the phone goes everywhere with me...to the barn mucking stalls, on the walk with the dog, to the shower, to church, to the dentist, chiropractor and hair dresser. It has been tucked into my bra, my boot and my underwear at times. Yes, underwear---don't ask....The bottom line is if you want to build your business you need to available 24/7 and run your butt off to make it happen. Good luck!

I'm not always able to immediately respond to an incoming call. I DO NOT answer my phone while driving. I ALWAYS return calls as soon possible. Messages are appreciated.

I answer all calls if I'm available...

but there are just certain times/places where I won't - shower, bathroom immediately come to mind - I'm sorry but there are limits IMO. My good companies are comfortable leaving a message for me to call them back...and I do - within minutes. I even call back companies who DON'T leave a message - to acknowledge that I received their call, apologies for not being available to answer and how can I help them.

But that's just me and MHO

I have three clients who will allow my five minutes to respond. They know from experience that I will take the assignment, they just want to confirm I got the message. I always tell them, the answer is Yes unless I say No.

Live by the Motto - "It wasn't meant to be"

When I first started I would get so upset if I missed an assignment opportunity, for whatever reason. I was stressed beyond belief because of it & finally realized it just isn't worth all of the headache to worry about what is in the past. Now when I miss out on something, I just say to myself, "It wasn't meant to be." May sound silly but it really has helped me. BTW I also do answer my phone anywhere/anytime (save a few examples) but you need to set limits for what you are comfortable with and as others have said, good clients will usually leave a mssg and wait a bit for you to call them back.

There are typically only a couple of situations where I don't answer the phone - and occasionally end up with a voice mail. One is when I find myself in a canyon or somewhere where reception is dicey. Things are pretty hilly around here and there are lots of little pockets where I don't get good reception while at a signing. (Less of an issue since I got my new BB, though.)

The other situation is when I take my phone with me to the bathroom and forget it there.... Wink I've missed a few calls that way recently, but I'm adapting! (I'm getting used to a different ring tone, I've adjusted the volume, and I'm using the Bluetooth more often at home now. Not yet too old to learn a few new tricks!!! Wink)

FWIW, I can't count how many times I've stepped out of the shower to take a call. It's certainly earned me enough $$$ to where I never get into the shower without putting my phone somewhere within easy reach.

Do you have caller ID on your phone?
Then call them back!
Put yourself in their position, it's your job to find a notary, so you just call a list in the area until you find one.
Think about the other persons job little and how YOU can make it easier on them.
