Question for Seasoned Notaries
I've been in business about two years and primarily do loan signings. I've been tinkering with the idea of getting registered with the DMV for vehicle work. For those of you who do that kind of work as well, is it worth it? Any thought, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks!
Andrea

Not sure what you mean by "vehicle work." Are you talking about titles or affidavits? In my state, KS, it is no longer necessary to have a title notarized when selling a vehicle, as long as the seller and buyer are both in state. We no longer need a notarized bill of sale either. I get very few requests for that type of service, but it could be different in your state. Do you advertise for general notary work?

You have to become an agent for PennDot, and have an office that is open to the public( Handicap accessible) a certain amount of hours a day with an hours sign posted. Not feasible if you are a full time mobile notary. Depending on your office location, may or may not be profitable!.

Re: PS: In case you are still interested, be aware,
there is a course that you take, and they make you fill out a long application and send in pictures of your office, including the posted sign and doorway entrance.

Re: Yep!!
I have seen such an office in Erie PA. I was totally amazed at the amount of people sitting and waiting to get things notarized! They had 4 Notaries seated at desks notarizing. It was on a very busy well traveled road. It is called Sues Notary..I actually went there to get something notarized as I was in the area and I was curious!
