Toner cartridges

I have been ordering HP compatible toner cartridges from LD Products for several years, but have had problems with them for the last six months.

I am going to order from another source recommended on this forum, SuperMediaStore.com, and have the choice of compatible or remanufactured cartridges. The remanufactured cartridges are $6 more each, and I want input as to whether it would be worth the difference.

Good Morning Lynn (out here). I likewise have had problems and went back to purchasing at the high-end retail outlets.
I did a signing for an HP Exc who asked me about my product experiences after he ask what type of printer I had. He assured me the HP on-line store was very competitive (with discounts) as anyone else. I haven't given it a try yet but I plan on doing so when my present cartridge runs low. You might want to give that a look- see also.

Lynn: I used Supermedia once and toner worked fine. Problem I had with them was that signature was required for delivery and I wasn't home to receive so had to go to UPS to accept delivery.

Just this past Sunday, I ordered a drum for my Brother from monoprice.com - tried them based on referral by a fellow notary (a big thank you to Aaron!). AND, I received my order the very next day, Monday. Talk about great service!! They have great prices on drums and toners.

I had been with LD and I'm now shopping around trying to find a good replacement for value and service. Hopefully, monoprice.com is it.

I contacted Supermediastore to see if they always require a signature for a UPS delivery. They responded, "Due to robbery threats we have marked certain areas which require signature.'

I have found that mwave.com is even cheaper than Supermedia on some occassions. I used their Brother and Cannon remanufactured and I have had no problems.

I shop Amazon for almost everything nowadays except bags of crushed ice, and have found the prices there the best of any source. You can compare products (extended capacity cartridges vs regular), prices and providers. Over several years, I think I had one cartridge that was bad -- not one batch, but one cartridge. Previously, before I started shopping Amazon several years ago, I was an LD customer. I left not because of quality issues but because the price was so much less on Amazon.

Given the choice of remanufactured or compatible...

...cartridges, is it worth it to pay more for remanufactured?

Please let us know how it works out for you.

My last cartridge from LD (a replacement after returning two in a row) was fine and seemed to have even better quality copies than I'd been getting with the same 300 dpi setting as before. I got the warning last night that it was starting to run low and hadn't yet had time to research a new source, with things as busy as they've been. So I decided to reorder one more cartridge from LD Products to see how it goes.

I checked the page usage and I also seem to be getting more pages from this one than previous cartridges. (I may actually get about 66% of stated capacity which I think is pretty good for the amount of page coverage loan docs typically have.) I'm hoping that all the problems have caused them make some changes. Like I said, we'll see... I'm not planning to order in any quantities without doing some more checking around - but unfortunately, lots of suppliers don't carry the cartridges my printer uses.
