Did you check the docs to see if they came with the line. Or a piece of lint on the fuser. Or its the HP. I had that happen to me before.

Does your cartridge have that little slidy thing on it to clean the corona wires? try doing that.

Drum is integral to toner cartridges on HP printers n/m

It could be the toner cartridge. Do you use originals or re-manufactured ones? Try replacing it and see if the black lines still show up. If they do, then it's the printer, if they don't, then it was the cartridge. On HP printers, I believe the drum is built into the toner cartridge so every time you replace the cartridge, you're replacing the drum.

This happened to me recently. I use remanufactured HP cartridges and the black lines were showing up on the edges of the docs. I feared it was the printer..But when I changed the cartridge it was fine..So now I know the printer is fine..whew!

I refilled cartridges on my old HP printer. The way I knew when it was time to buy a new cartridge and start over was when lines started showing up.

Try scrolling through the menu options on your printer, that HP should have a cleaning mode. Run it through the cleaning cycle a couple times and that will usually clear up the problem, at least it did with my similar HP. The rollers are probably getting pretty gummed up especially if you've never run the cleaning cycle before so it might be worth a try.
