eSignings Take Longer - Same Fee

I've had a couple calls offering me work doing eSignings. I have the capability and advertise for it but I've since heard from other notaries they take more time and are a hassle.

If eSignings take up more of our time without compensation should we turn them down? Can we develop this industry as an additional fee? It saves the lender time, but costs us more. It seems only fair we get compensated.

I don't know, but why should we offer a new service to lenders that takes up more of our time and not get compensated for it?

Not a new service...do the research...e-signings

have been around for a while - not widespread but not new either...

Those who have done them know how to price them accordingly.

I always charge for esigns when using my equipment (laptop and aircard). TC's and most SS's are find with the additional fee.

Amtrust esigns are very user friendly. However, Flagstar ... now, that's a different story!

Yes, Linda, there is printing involved.

Just seems to be more of it with Flagstar.

I have a Mac laptop and aircard...however, I was unable to complete an e-sign. Does anyone know what else do I need?

My work is mostly “custom”…tailored to the place/time/type of job. Different jobs…different prices.

Not true for me. Done a lot of them for both Amtrust and Flagstar. I put a premium of $35 for an esign and get it. There are about 40 pages of docs to be printed and either signed or initialed. I can get done in about 40 minutes of starting. One trick that I use is that i sign onto either Fiserve or Amstrust and make sure that the closing is there and my information is correct, commission number and date, my addy and so on. That makes the closing go much faster and it only takes a couple of minutes. Here's another hint, only use Internet Explorer, not Firefox or any other brower. IE works best with esignings. Also, put a bookmark for the banks sites, it makes everything go faster. I've done about a 100 esigning in the past year.

Amtrust esigns are a breeze, Flagstars are awful. n/m
