scanner problem/question

don't know what I am doing wrong, and I 'm hoping someone can help:

when I scan documents, one of two things happens:
either I get 10 individual files instead of one file with ten pages in it
or, only the first page scans (even though the dialog window says that the other pages are scanning)

I have had the sam proublem. I scan to a TIF file and that fixed the proublem. TIF for me scanes multi. pages to one file.

It's an issue with your scanning software, but not knowing what software it is, I can't help.

What scanning software are you using with your scanner?

what I do, is go to the control panel and right click the printer/scanner I am using and then 'start scan'. I also have Picasa 3 on my PC but have had no better luck using that.

Re: it is Windows Fax & Scan

I had similar problems using the Windows software for scanning. It never could get multiple pages right. It was scanning them all and giving me a separate file for each scan. I use the Passport software that came with my printer/scanner and it works very well.

I also have CutePDF Pro. I haven't tried that for scanning. I need to look at that and see how it works. Thanks for the suggestion.

Let me do some research and see if I can find any resolution for the Windows Fax&Scan.

Re: it is Windows Fax & Scan

Well, here's the bad news. It seems to be a known issue with Microsoft, and no they don't appear to have any plans to fix it any time soon.

The only workaround is to scan as a TIFF.

Your other option is to buy software that will do it for you (or try to get the software that came with the scanner to work properly).

Sorry, wish I had better news for you.

I bought the full version of CutePDF Pro a few years ago and use it for multi-page scanning from two different scanners with no issues... you might want to download the trial version and see if it works any better for you.
