2010 is slow
The other day, the day before the big snow, several of us in CT were referring Signing Service callers to other Notary Signing Agents. Isn't it amazing: A Signing Service you've never worked for calls looking for a favor for the day that is going to have a foot of snow or more?r Gee, how come you've never "found" me before?r And after the snow is gone, will you ever call me again?r

Last minute calls, me, too ...
They call an hour or less before, during a snow storm stating "docs are ready" for a town well out of my travel area that even in perfect conditions I couldn't print docs and get to within their time frame. I don't even ask fee - no fee is worth my car sliding off the road, someone else sliding into, or getting TRAPPED in a borrower's unplowed, icey driveway.
Always seem surprised when I turn it down and when I kindly mention bad weather conditions, slippery roads and that they may have trouble finding someone.
Like Ernest, my first hint: You NEVER called me before for anything "local," you must be well down the public internet calling list to get to me. For those in CT, what unworldly mileage calculator do some of these people use that gives them an idea I would travel to Stonington or Waterbury in a snow storm ... or that I'd get there in less than 30 minutes. I do have sympathy for the few sad, but polite, callers who have hopes but realize that this call may be a lost cause.
