238 page DAV refi...that was a biggie
Lender is Home Savings of America. All must be printed on Legal paper. Took 1 hour 27 minutes to close this monster. Took about an hour to print it, negotiate a higher fee, and get all my stuff filled in advance. This was through DocPros, and they're just a class outfit, but MAN...this was a MONSTER pack of docs. Not even gonna try to stuff this in a FedEx envelope. It's goin in a box. Lots of duplicate docs, and probably about 10-15 new forms I hadn't seen, some which I had to fill out, and some the borrower had to fill out. Some was basically the same stuff, but in a different form, and some were new to me. It was a pretty tough closing. That's almost a ream of paper to have signed, and most of it took sigs or initials. Glad it's done.

John, were the new Docs a lot of homeland security stuff? Had had some today from CitiMortgage that I never saw before also. Not as big as your Package.

Yes, some of it was, and some were some new DAV forms that the borrower had to fill out. I actually printed exactly 250 pages, as there were page runovers on some of the scanned docs. Called them and told them I had blank pages, but they said it was just a runover...maybe it was, and maybe it wasn't, but I made them aware of the blank pages.
238 pages is a really signing package. Looked back through it at the signing table while the BO was filling out docs, but so many pages that they actually had to wait on me at the end of the signing, which normally doesn't happen. Any time the BO is filling something out, I'm rechecking docs during the signing, and this was a DAV refi with quite a bit of down time, but I still couldn't get it all checked out making sure that the new forms were completely filled in while she was filling out docs. There were quite a few new docs, to me, in this packet. When I sat down at the table I told them that first couple hundred pages I am totally familiar with, but the last 38 pages or so are new to me. Didn't have time to really look at them before going to the signing, so I had to study them a bit at the table to see what I needed to tell them to do.

Thanks John I've only had that size..
..when it was a first and second. I use to ask how many pages but now when I get them I look at how many there are myself. Personally, I think I would have to ask for more if I got that many.

Re: Thanks John I've only had that size..
I did, and got what I asked for. They actually upped it $25 on their own without me asking for anything, when they saw it was 238 pages, and I appreciated that, but that wasn't enough for a 238 page closing. We agreed upon a reasonable fee, and it's closed. DocPros is a great company to work for. When there is something weird, they take care of you, and they timely pay. No hand holding or any of that crap.

DocPros is one of the only SSs that I will still work with. I'm sure they worked with you on it. Good people.
That does sound like a monster... I'm in awe you got it done in 90 mins! Of course, with duplicates, that would go faster.

87 minutes. LOL DocPros is GREAT! Love working with them!
I could have trimmed another 10-15 minutes off there If I'd had the docs earlier. Had to stop and read some of them during the signing to understand what I was passing to them. I LIKE to be able to review those well in advance so I can point out the critical parts of the docs. Had some printer problems or I would have had more time to review the docs. There was a piece of paper about the size of my thumb nail that broke off and was jamming me up. Had to go to a baby printer to finish the first set of originals, after clearing the jams about 20 times. GRRRRR
There were 3-4 I.D. docs, and those take a while to fill out. I think 3 apps, and one was wrong. Why is it that the apps aren't always the same? It was just a flip-flop on who the money was owed to...right above, but wrong below. The other 2 apps were fine. Had a sneaky little initial place I almost didn't catch one one of them though. Caught that one on the second check through. Lull in signing, I'm constantly rechecking docs. Don't look at them again once I leave the table, but I AlWAYS check them as much as I can at the table. Unless there's a faxback, I seal the packet right in front of the borrowers...except for this one and have to use a FedEx box to ship it as it won't fit in an envelope.
Time to crash. Have a SUPER WEEKEND!

It would fit in a FedEx pak, no need for box. n/m

John, Was this in Jacksboro, if so it was shopped to me by another SS. They told me the size of the packet and I asked $250-downlaod, print, copy for borrow, travel (60 miles one way), signing time and faxbacks (they indicated about 20 pgs, I suspected 50 pgs). I thought it was a bargin, after the call I refigured and it should have been around $300.

Which Doc Pros, there are three.
I'm pretty sure I know who you are talking about but there are three Doc Pros in SC.

Re: Which Doc Pros, there are three.
In SS it's DocPros, Inc.. Great company to work for, but this closing was off the chart. They were fair with me, and I was glad to do it for them, even though it was a tremendous amount of docs.

Sid, it was 3 1/2 miles from my office. There was no faxback at all. Shipped it back in a medium FedEx box today. Take care my friend!
