Anyone having problems with hp3015 and Comcast?

I have been told that because Comcast is digital and fax is analog that this is the problem. It tries to send signal but, then I get an error that says that other fax is not answering.
also, I have been told that I need a 2 wire phone cord that the 4 wire won't work with hp machine.

Your 3015 in fax mode should work on Comcast! It should work on any cable system, Brighthouse, Time/Warner, Verizion Fios, etc.

As for the phone cord, yes, you should only be using the two wire (red/green - two center contacts). When a 4-wire phone cord is connected, and there's any stray voltage on the unused two leads (black/yellow), the 3015 thinks it's on a multiline connection and may work properly.

Some times, the installer will hook up the MTA (modem/telephone adapter) incorrectly such that tip and ring (red/green) is reversed. Or the house wiring gets done incorrectly, reversing the leads. This presents a problem with tones not being sent or received properly.

Are we talking about the same phone cord? I thought they were copper colored.

The copper is inside colored plastic or rubber(?) insulation when you're dealing with inside cabling - at least it used to be. (Ahhh, takes me back to my old telecom days... Wink) The phone cables that we buy usually have a solid color insulation wrapped around the copper. The person doing the installation that Paul was talking about would know exactly what he means. Not something the lay person usually deals with.
