FASS

How many of you have been penalized for not calling status in within 60 minutes. I accepted a signing the other day which was scheduled for 4:30. Told them can't do until 6 so they said fine. Never changed the time in the system and I was written up for a quality issue. They were going by the 4:30 time...not the rescheduled time. I told them to remove me from their database. I have worked for them for at least 4-5 years and they refused to rescind the quality issue. I even emailed the closer to let him know he better change the time before I did the closing because I knew this would be an issue and he never did. Totally unprofessional. Says on the confirmation that you have to call within 60 minutes to be paid. Does this mean I don't get paid for this one? They are ignoring my emails and have blocked me from logging onto the vendor site.

No, you should still get paid as long as the file shows the order wa successfully completed. Unless you email vendor management not accepting the quality issue and they agree, this will re-set the calendar for another six months before you qualify for "white glove" status ... whatever that is supposed to mean. Seems like the only "white glove" treatment I ever receive is during my once-a-year physical exam. Ugh!! Frown

That's the problem - they would not agree to reset it and now I have that on me and it wasn't my fault. Oh well. I'm not working for them anymore. Told them to remove me from their list.

In my experience, white glove status means you get to the top of the list if you are willing to accept assigments for $75 w/edocs. One quality issue will not have any effect on them calling when they need you and are willing to pay your fee. To be honest, I don't think I would have burned that bridge.

I go back and forth with them all the time. I get so irritated at them sometimes. This is one company that needs to send the boss undercover like that new show (can't think of the name right now) to see what its really like when they call, email, handhold, threaten etc etc. I hate their website and they keep changing the password on me too. When they call they have to go through this spiel about this call may be monitored etc. I just hate that. Its like come one, get to the point, I am busy, what do you want.
Try getting a hold of someone when you are in a closing. Almost impossible. The other day I was at the table and called in on an escrow tax issue. It was missing an entire installment of the borrowers taxes. I was actually told to add it in and initial. What??? I can't do that, it changes the borrowers payment amount too. Then try and reach someone at BOA. Almost impossible too.
After an hour at the table trying to get this straightened out, FASS calls to see if it was completed. If I hadn't been sitting in front of the borrowers, I would have lost it right there with them and I guarantee they would have never called me again. I was so p***** and they would have heard words out of my mouth that would have made anyone blush and I don't talk like that often.
The only thing that keeps me working for them is they do pay in a couple weeks. I quote high when they call because of the frustration that goes along with them. They either take it or leave it, doesn't matter to me.

I have never worked for FASS, I wonder why anyone would? But John I liked your ‘white glove’ answer.

Wish you luck here.

FASS has fallen to the status of one notch above Nations Direct.
I worked for them nearly ten years and last year I broke off that relationship.
Their QC and failure to listen to the notary is an appaling business practice.
Just talking about makes my blood boil.

I have never worked for them but I have to tell you

I am absolutely amazed that a company can insist on such perfection when they are anything but that - they can't keep their records straight - they forget to update their own system as to a change in the order and the notary pays the price? No thank you...

That's my point...they are acting infantile I think the word is - she didn't even want to listen to me, just said the case was closed and that made my blood boil. I am not going to be treated that way because I do a "professional" job...they will call me again because I am pretty much the only notary in my area and I will tell them to go scratch. I even forwarded her the email to the gentleman asking him to change the time in the system and she acted like it was still my fault because I didn't call w/in 60 minutes...that ridiculous - I was still at work...anyway, time to move on...my blood is boiling again. And I did call w/in the 60 mins from the closing table when we were done.

Don't get me wrong, I know FASS is a pain in the a$$. I also know that the people at First American are always professional and cooperative and avialable when I need to speak with them. To me they are 2 seperate entities. So I suck it up and get my money and move on.

They are an in house SS for First American Title and the former TransContinental Title. They live in their own little world, though.

I worked for them

When I moved from California to Arizona I needed immediate work and became a certified signer for them. Believe me, they do not treat their in house notaries any better than they have treated you. As soon as I was sure my business in AZ would be ok I quit!

I let them go back in 2002

They have been treating their IC's like dung heaps for many years from what I have read on this board and from my own personal experience when I first started out. And yet people are still willing to not only accept their paltry fees, which haven't changed much in all these years, but have excuses why they continue to do so.

I had only done a few assignments for them and I accepted one for about 15-20 miles outside of town. I get to the BO's, waiting outside their home for about 10 mins. as there was no answer but I heard people inside. So I finally go to the back door and it is answered. I'm asked in and I sit there for about another 10 mins. A woman comes out of her bedroom, I'm assuming as she looked like she just rolled out of bed, and proceeded to tell me that the appt. had been rescheduled for the "next" day with another notary. Needless to say, I was hot!

I immediately called them and let them know how unprofessional they were and to take me out of their database. I continued to get calls from them and refused each and every time. They eventually stopped calling.

You're running a business, you are not their employee. Don't let them or any other SS/TC/Lender treat you with anything but respect, and if they don't, tell them to take a hike. JMHO.

I guess FASS dropped me because I would not complete their $75.00 assignments. They used to be a good company but now they want to be a babysitter. I haven't heard from them in several months and the white glove issue is a royal pain.

Wow, you're story sounds way too familiar!!! I, too, have had a very similar situation with FASS. When I tried to dispute my situation via email, the vendor relations department was completely rude and unprofessional, and deleted me out of their system!!! This company is a joke, I think we should all go on strike!!

The funny thing is they offered me $65 for overnight docs I believe and I said no way my fee is XXX.XX and they called me back after they got approval. I always got my quoted fee with them but I'm tried of jumping through hoops with them.

I worked for FASS for almost a year. I started at their $75 rate and then after a couple of months told them I needed more money, (since I was getting more from every other company that I worked for). They started getting on my nerves with everything that they wanted and how they wanted it. I was at a table with one borrower (who had to read every single word on the paper) and had not called within the allotted time period. I told them I ws still with the borrower and the girl asked if I had a tracking number yet. I told her I did but since I was still with the borrower, I would give it to her when I was done. I had other issues with them mostly in documents being late (closing scheduled for 5, docs don't get to you until 6). I also was not crazy about how many times they would call to "remind you about your closing on such a date". Much as I miss the steady money from them, the aggrevation started getting more then it was worth.

still waiting on payment from last month...they gave me so

much $hit about that one closing...everything went well, I completed it, called in after, followed their white glove bs to the letter....but I still got called like 5 times after the closing, all from different agents, asking me the same question...."when did I drop the package", "what's the tracking number", bla, bla, bla......

if they short me my already pitiful check, then we'll be in for a fight....

I hope they have a good insurance plan. Therapy can be very expensive. I think some of them may need to be deprogrammed when they finally burn out! Poor drones.

They did exactly the same thing to me, the scheduler said work it out with the borrower, then the next babysitter called the borrower, who told them they had no problem with me coming later. And they wrote me up, even after I disagreed and told them the scheduler okayed it! But the way I see it, who cares? Who else sees their 'Quality Issues?' They always pay what I ask, and within 2 weeks, so I just tolerate all of their annoying phone calls. If they call during a signing, I ignore the call until I leave. However, now they are telling me I need to have the NNA background check in order to work for them, along with a signed contract, which I haven't sent back because I don't agree with the fees in the contract. But, they still call! Guess I will ride this as long as I can, good money for now! And I have been paid in full a couple of times when the borrower would not sign.
