I like John Schenks rules
I took 3 hours the other day to read Johns profile and he charges $1 per page for anything over 10 pages. Could make more money on the fax backs than the signing itself but good luck getting these guys to pay.

Buck up here and either apologize or reveal yourself. You can't have it both ways.

a profile publicly when you don't show your own? Seems a teensie bit uppity.
Still, he's right.

Re: I kind of agree... why criticize
No reason for an apology in my view but if she ask me to do so I will do it sure!! why not? I do a lot of mistakes here and every where when you type fast and you are in a hurry all the time but when you do your profile it has to be at least without any misspellings. And as Carol says herself it was just some "construcktive critiscizem" Some of the regulars here helped me fix my profile a few years ago, I don't have anything to teach to Carol but I just noticed her 2 little mistakes. Have a great day all of you!!

Re: I kind of agree... why criticize
I've sent a message or two in the past with some observations about someone's profile, but since it's been available, I've always sent them as a PM. I see no reason to make it a public post, so I think Marian has a good point.

I don't get this mentality at all
All she did was point out a couple of spelling errors. If you know how to spell, you have the right to notice when things are misspelled. What exactly is the apology supposed to be? I'm sorry that I noticed 2 misspelled words and pointed them out to you so your profile would look more professional?
And don't even get me started about the stupid "everyone should link to their profile" thing. Harry has made it optional, so if somebody chooses not to do it, it's nobody elses damn business why they make that choice, and it's idiotic to then act like their opinion is somehow less meaningful because of it.

My goodness!
I just got home from a couple of signings and saw that they molehill had now become a mountain.
So here it is. On my profile I misspelled 2 words (I will blame it on the fact that I typed it while not wearing the glasses which are now hanging around my neck.)
Someone caught the errors and publicly humiliated me..............just kidding.........by pointing out the errors. I was actually grateful. It is sort of like have a big wad of spinach in your teeth and no one tells you!
I thank those of you who went to my defense and to those of you who cared enough to release me from future humilation.
Have a wonderful evening one and all.

I just turned down a closing for 9:15pm tonight (called at 6:40pm) for a BofA (usually 180+ docs) with fax backs. Quoted my fee and was told... get ready... "That’s a hundred more than I am allowed to pay." LOL And my quote was without a rush charge and my fee for a company that pays true Net30, which after research I realized this company doesn't.
Gave me a good laugh for the evening.

Guess that co couldn't get anyone to take $50-75
to close the same last min BofA loan with 180+ docs and fax backs. LOL I just had another company call for the same loan. Told them my fee and they are "going to see if they can get approval"
I'm not holding my breath but if a third company calls I know I will bust out laughing.
Hint: Offer a reasonable fee -- get a reasonable acceptance

I'd heard of several companies requiring BofA faxbacks of
the entire package & at no additional fee. It's a PIA, for sure. I've not been asked to do it yet, but don't think I would. The alternative is to scan the package & email it.

Re: I'd heard of several companies requiring BofA faxbacks of
BofA loans are a good 180 pages. I give my clients 10 free pages of faxbacks and after that it's $1.00 page. If they want 180 pages faxed back, I'll certainly be glad to do it.
I actually need to change my profile and let them know that I will give a break IF they want the entire packet faxed back. It's more time consuming for me to have to pull out 15 docs and fax back 40-50 pages than it is to just fax them the whole thing, but it's still gonna be $85.00 for a 180 page faxback for the entire package. If they'll take it scanned into .pdf, then an extra $25 is enough for that for me, as I call get that done in about 10 minutes, and that's certainly preferable over faxing, and gives the client a large cost savings as less of my time is involved.
Time is money. I'll do anything they want, so long as they're willing to pay to play. If not, I have better things to do that will make me money, or maybe I just want to sit on my big ol butt, or go to the ranch, or a myriad of other things that I could do. I'm not into charitable donations for work done on loan closings. I'd prefer to donate to a 501 C3 entity so I can take it off my taxes as a charitable contribution.
BofA loans are HUGE packets, although not the biggest, but they're still CountryWide sized packets. As far as I'm concerned, an additional request for additional work should be compensated for in any loan that you close. If they don't want to pay me, then I just pass on it. I'll give'em whatever they want, but I'm going to have to charge a fair fee to do that, for my area. Each person has to decide what they'll do it for, and what the market will bear in your area, and the market doesn't always bear it in mine, and I pass on the closing.
Sometimes you get blindsided and get stuck doing one that you really wish you hadn't gotten into. Sometimes you say WTH, slot filled, I'll go ahead and do it, and then regret that you agreed to do it. Enormous doc package comes in and you may just go ahead and do it because you don't want to fight the battle, and I've certainly done that before. What's reasonable to you is what is reasonable on any given day sometimes. I look at how much business that client has given me in the last year, and how they pay, of course. If they need a little help on one, I give it to them, but let them know that it's a FAVOR. Doesn't change my fee structure with them, nor should it. I just give them my best work each and every time, set a fair fee, and expect to get paid that fee. If the docs come in at a higher count, we renegotiate. My fees are set out quite clearly. If they want faxbacks, that's set out clearly too. I'm certainly not blindsiding them, and SS's don't now what the docs package count is going to be until it comes in. We work from there, and reach an agreement, or I pass on the closing. If you negotiate well, you will pass on very few closings as they'll meet your fee at that point, or at least that's my experience.

Re: Wow John..was that really necessary??
First, it was NOT Calnotary, unlinked, who was "jumpin on" you. It was Calinotary who did any jumping on you, for being long winded. I chimed in then, and now was just asking a rhetorical question.
I thought perhaps we should know this, also how long you spend in the bathroom with the hairdryer, showering, whether you get wet, turn off water, then lather and turn on water to rinse or just leaves the water on the whole time. I don't know if you have a library in the bathroom and how long you might "read". I don't know if the right sock or left sock is put on first, and do you do socks before pants?
Second: "Please, don't forget to take your estrogen and Xanax tomorrow. It'll make for a better day for you."
Should I take that with Wild Turkey or Tequila? Load a pistol with the dosage and shoot? Or, would you rather throw down after 10 paces?

You're evidently having a bad day, and possibly much more, and I'm sorry for that. Please PM me if there is any way I can help you. You can vent on me, or whatever. I promise to be very kind to you if you need any help in any way, even if it's only someone to vent on. I'm truly not your enemy in any way. I'll even give you my phone number to call me, or you can PM me.
My apologies to Calnotary instead of Calinotary. My error, and I am sorry for the mistake.
Please call me if you need a friend. Times are hard, and we gotta deal with it! I'll be glad to help you through it as much as I can. Sometimes just having an open ear helps.

Re: Wow John..was that really necessary??
John, I never thought that you were mean, ever. I did not take any offense at your comments about medications in order to have a better day than this might have been. That's laughable.
I had the most wonderful week-end which has spilled over to today - another terrific day. I challenged two 19 yr. old boys to a kayak race after one of them wondered if I could keep up with them. They left the river 2 hours after me, long after they lost. One day they will beat me, but not before they have earned it. I am basking in a glow of achievement, graditude and thankfulness, so my life is not bad or miserable.
I am an impatient person...my mind leaps to focus on the bottom line. Sometimes I find you take too long to get there, adding details that could better be left out. TMI if you will.
Although we've not corresponded lately, I don't doubt your sincerity, I have a friend in you, (whether for a season or a reason,) and I know your generosity extends far and wide. My theme this season is "acceptance": of what we are given to handle in our daily lives. I may have been too harsh in my second post, but you didn't get the first and then went a bit too far. If you wish to pray for me, make it only that I learn my theme and apply it easily on a daily basis.
Or, send me a buyer for my house, or send $200K to buy the house of my dreams so that I can start a B&B, or find me an investor to accomplish this and get me out of this city.
Most importantly: thank you for the olive branch.
