HP 2055D - Need Help configuring 2nd tray -

HP business support is closed until Monday. I have a 2005d with a 500 sheet second tray. The first tray is loaded with letter, the 500 sheet second tray is loaded with Legal. I can't get the printer to recognize the difference between letter and legal. Any info would be appreciated...

Check your printer's configuration carefully. The top (single feed) input is called Tray 1. The bottom trays are called Tray 2 and Tray 3. Make sure that Tray 2 is configured with letter and Tray 3 is legal size.

You can download (or view) the User's Manual from HP at http://tinyurl.com/yjj6sjh

What is going on? Today my printer will only print from tray 1 manually ... one page at a time. I have a HP 2015dn. Please send PM to me if you can help or have any answers for this problem.

Re: HP 2015dn

1. Check printer configuration settings.
2. Reboot your system (printer must be on and ready as PC boots up).
3. If problem persists, remove and reinstall printer making sure it is configured properly.

It only picks up from second tray

The only way it picks from the top tray is if I detach the second tray.....

Re: It only picks up from second tray

What software product are you using (Word, Excel, Adobe Reader, etc.)? It may be the way the software is controlling the printer. For example, if you are printing from Adobe Reader, you need to select "Choose paper source by PDF page size" in order for it to work correctly. Of course, this also assumes that the printer is properly configure. There are TWO configurations that must be done as well: (1) the hardware must be configured using the printer's console; (2) the driver must be configured to match the hardware configuration using the printer properties. Most folks forget to show "installed" in the printer properties / device settings, for Tray 3.

Paul, if I may add that when you go into "Properties", make certain that tray 3 is installed. In addition, after making changes always click on "apply"
